mm is interesting to see how USA and central europe have the mayority of nodes, but is sad to see how some countrys are mostly empty

will be curious to see something like an image in the last years about it, i mean how it have been growing up.

Interesting article, I can's say I am surprised. You don't have to be bitcoin scientist to know where bitcoin is popular and where not.
Basically bitcoin=internet. We can't have bitcoin without network so Africa, middle east and part of south America are blank spots.

Bitcoin is the first true currency of the internet, which makes it the first borderless value transfer system. Its being used in various places that aren't even accounted for due to proxies etc, so I doubt that most of the stats and geo-usage info out there is accurate

Nice to see how they actually mapped out everything with every tiny little details given. Looking at it, there are still a lot of white unmarked regions meaning that despite our effort, we still a lot that needs to be done to spread things around. We need more Infrastructure such as atm to get things going and encourage adoption and I can see that is where we are still lacking.

then i think first they have to get the internet then only they can have the knowledge of bitcoin, but apart from this continents , in asia europe and usa have been in bitcoin and they are very soon growing fast.

I thought China would have the biggest amounts of nodes out there since they are the strongest miners on the planet. How come they aren't #1 at nodes too? they should be supporting the network and not only mining it if they want their Bitcoins to stay valuable.

As most technologies, USA and central europe are the center,

But the stats might be misleading because people can use proxies and I'm not sure if all nodes that are running are listed too

in my view the data may show that the nodes are from USA and central europe are the center, but it is the location but actually it is mined in some other places, so i think we cannot take this data as the final

The internet is quite slow there still. It probably consumes top much bandwith for most to run the nodes.

Stuff like This should be made often to see how the demographics change.

When you remove all other layers and leave just exchanges, you can obviously see that there's still very little exchanges. If you compare those with gold exchanges
it's insane to even imagine how much the price would be greater.

Also, there's no option to select to view ATM's, which is also something that people would like to know about.

Overall it's quite hard to get actual geographical stats for bitcoin usages due to the use of proxies and other tools

There are also developers all over the world that are working on fully anonymous wallets for bitcoin that will make it even more difficult to pin point geographical locations that transactions are being emitted between

its not accurate at all..
i looked on the map of my area and it just showed one location.. which was a 'venue' yet i know of atleast 10 nodes that are not showing up.
i checked on another area which i know of that has full node users, and that area was blank..

so please take it with a pinch of salt. id say only 10% accurate at most

Not when it comes to market shares, which is pretty much important asset. Bitcoin exchanges are basically getting bounced up as chinese exchanges dictate, since most of the volume is coming from their direction,
as well as virtually every single hype or drop. Bitcoin nodes distribution is another thing tho, probably because there's no profit to be made there by running one of them.

In China bitcoin is used almost exclusively as way to earn money. Normal people are not familiar with bitcoin on the same level people in US or EU are. Basically in China if you are not mining you are not keeping your node up.

all it started from USA, especially mining, was heavily initiaded there with their cheap electricyt, to bad they could not expand farther, not working in group like chinese have stopped them i suppose

In China bitcoin is used almost exclusively as way to earn money. Normal people are not familiar with bitcoin on the same level people in US or EU are. Basically in China if you are not mining you are not keeping your node up.

Very little online payments there. Bitcoin is mainly used a trading tool to make money. Most ordinary people will not make money. Only big whales can make money.

A previous colleague of mine has been stationed in Africa for nearly 2 years now, and he is running a IT training center with 100 nodes and it does not show up on the map. How

many nodes must be running before it is reflected on the map? I doubt if this is very accurate... but it gives us an idea at least. The USA still dominate the scene and it will take

time for the world, to get to those levels of activity.
