What stopping people from using bitcoin??
The number one reason for me is understanding what bitcoin is. If you are new to bitcoin just like me, you won't get how exactly it works just by reading. You need to learn the terms in order, I mean the first thing a new user has to learn is how to have a bitcoin wallet ( I mean if you read about ASIC or hashrates, etc. first before bitcoin wallet, you would not understand it right . It's not the price that's stopping people to use it, actually if you tell them 1 bitcoin is equal to $370, it would spark interest. The reason people stop using bitcoin is that it's hard to earn it(I mean you can't use what you don't have).

Security is also a big issue. You cannot expect the normal person on the street to be able to keep their coins safe. Its too hard for them.
why not? because they don't know how to create a secure offline cold storage? it's not hard at all. it's just a matter of saving your wallet file to a thumb drive. it also doesn't require you a lot effort to create a paper wallet. if you meant something else, please explain. what he meant by street people is that, those people that are not familiar with bitcoin and walletthey will have a hard time trusting those thing if they are not that familiar about it.

I love this one. That is right put a bitcoin sign in their eyes first. Tell them how huge 1 butcoin is. Then tell them how they can earn. How many possibilities they can earn it. If they dont want to start by buying it and trading. First could be faucets. Just like me.

I would say that the biggest issue people have with Bitcoin right now is the easy of access that bitcoin has, the stigma that Bitcoin is used by shady criminals, and, simply put, Bitcoin does not really offer them anything that typical banks and payments systems offer. "Average" people don't see a need for anonymity, and PayPal or other platforms allow for people to complete payment quickly and move on with their lives, as opposed to having an address that they have to input via QR Code or other software, then select a specific dollar amount, then wait for the transaction to complete, etc.
Bitcoin, to fully succeed as a daily currency, has to be faster, somewhat more stable in value, has to have the public have more positive views about it, and, as stupid as it seems, needs to be easier to use.

The sigma and misunderstanding are the biggest issues. In my personal experience Bitcoin is a lot easier to use than PayPal or traditional banking. Mainsteam needs wallets for dummies. Perhaps mobile wallets are a good step for mainstream adaption. People need some time, bitcoin is still a very young project.

when a new invention or project is discovered, it is never implemented immediately by the so called big organizations. The reason being, it is usually given a grace period so that they see the response the invention is getting from all over the world. I am so sure that in the coming few years, the bitcoin will have been flooded since these big organization would have joined. It is just that the coin is facing several challenges which when solved will be to the benefit of all.

The people that aren't entrepeneurs, don't do international payments and so on, will probably not see the benefits of Bitcoin until the fiat scam collapses, then they will learn the lesson the hard way. Other than that im not worried about it, let just Bitcoin develop, the devs are doing a good work, let services keep appearing and innovation happening, and it will happen sooner or later.

Perhaps mobile wallets are a good step for mainstream adaption. People need some time, bitcoin is still a very young project. I'm actually interested in your response about how Bitcoin is easier to use when you compare it to traditional banking, however I think I understand what you mean, and in a way I find that fascinating. Either way, thank you for correcting my misunderstanding. Your comment about needing a "For dummies" wallet is exactly what I was thinking, however I'm not sure how we could create "For dummies" wallets based on our current technology. Maybe have a serial number or a wallet number (Like a telephone number) mask the actual address for quicker transactions? I would say that the biggest issue people have with Bitcoin right now is the easy of access that bitcoin has, the stigma that Bitcoin is used by shady criminals, and, simply put, Bitcoin does not really offer them anything that typical banks and payments systems offer. Other than that im not worried about it, let just Bitcoin develop, the devs are doing a good work, let services keep appearing and innovation happening, and it will happen sooner or later. Well, it all depends on when the fiat scam will collapse, since the gov't always seems to figure out a way to prop it up that little bit longer. In a way I hope everyone realizes how piss-poor the current monetary system is, but we don't have the most economically smart generation, so I question if that will ever happen. I am quite excited for the future of Bitcoin, however, and I hope we do get to see some of the things you're talking about.

I think the idea that bitcoin value is supposed to grow, is stopping many from spending it and use actively. Why I would spend my bitcoins now, if next year their value will be higher? I can spend fiat now.

I think the ultimate decider is convenience. If I can whip out a plastic card and pay in 2 seconds, or spend half a minute trying to send a bitcoint payment....I think the former would be what I'd pick.

How can people use bitcoin if they don't know what that is. There is no commercials on TV, or internet shouting: "use new amazing payment method - Bitcoin" or something like that. The only way new and not IT related people hears about bitcoin is from mass media TV news and I recently is all about: "bitcoin is a found for terrorists" or some other bullshit like this.

That's part of why I think we should really aim to talk about Bitcoin more in our day-to-day lives; it is far more effective than just having commercials trying to counteract the bad press. Even if we can't directly talk to people and advocate for it, we should campaign for more companies to start using and accepting Bitcoin, and once people learn that there are more uses for Bitcoin in everyday life that isn't crime related, we can hopefully expect to see more people start using Bitcoin over time.

The main thing is the idea of another big scam like Mt Gox, or another big crash, also caused by Mt Gox. Everyone's scared that their assets will be worth nothing.

Bitcoin cannot (yet) compete with the protection and security of debit cards and all that other stuff. And no one gets paid in bitcoin and you don't pay bills with it. I've yet to hear a good argument against this.
