What's stopping people from using bitcoin?

Bitcoin really has no advantages for the average person making purchases in a store.  Credit cards rule because they provide consumer protection.  Bitcoin gives merchants more protection.  It should be merchants driving the use of Bitcoin.  For the average person, Bitcoin has better applications in money transfers and contracts involving escrow. 

Escrow works only here in our forum i dont know for other site.. its risky to use bitcoin if you deal for someone not well known you may scam.. and you can retrieve your bitcoin back unlike paypal..

And it is hard to trust if you are not going to trust escrow here in forum and of course there are merchants that are going to deal with escrows too.
People are really pissed of scams, that's why many are just stopping in using bitcoin.
Because they don't want to become a victim again.

An escrow is like the middle man. So I think it also work even outside this forum. Examples are bets from different sports. Without it risk of the other betting person may happen. So that is why people here hate when there is no escrow.

I believe there are escrow also even not here in forum. As long as there is money involved. Escrows are everywhere and you are right they are middleman for real.
Because when having transactions people don't trust each other so they are getting escrow and maybe when they don't find good escrow they are just stop using it.

I think these companies do not use bitcoins because they do not see any special need to do so, some bitcoin exchanges have fees as high as 20% - this is higher than a simple bank transfer.

They might also have this nagging fear that bitcoins might collapse one day like some of the other cryptocurrencies have done in time past.

I think not all exchanges provide a 20% withdrawal fee even in local exchange in my country only provides a fee of 1% for the withdrawal of bitcoin? it was very cheap and I think every exchange has a different fee. I think you have to look for exchanges that provide an inexpensive fee. but it is not a good reason to quit in using bitcoin

It's can be anything honestly, very hard to pick out only one reason, but mostly people just don't know what bitcoin is. For example in my city almost everyone don't know what is it.

I think one of the main reason that stopping people from using bitcoin is the lack of knowledge coupled with bad press.  This explain much for some people are afraid to have a connection to things that have something to do with illegal activities.  Due to their lack of knowledge about bitcoin,  they think that bitcoin itself is illegal.

yeah their knowledge of bitcoin are still few and poor they were so afraid of bitcoin, such as fear when prices fall and will make them into bankruptcy this happens because they do not have much knowledge about bitcoin. if cases like this what we should do

I guess it will all be done by every person to tried not to lose money on that investing more so when prices fall would sell these investment, it does not mean that their knowledge was poor.

At least the traders do not do like that, they know the tricks of trade and when the price for bitcoin decrease they do not sell their coins but they buy more and more and with that the price of bitcoin increases and so they then start to sell their extra coins.

Nothing really can stop people from using it. Only if they are banned to use in your country where you live. This is the only thing that I can think of that will prohibit someone from stopping someone from using it,

bitcoin is completely anonymous. and decentralize currency. I don't think someone can ban bitcoin. no govt no anyone. if poeple leave bitcoin then they must leave for something else reason. but because of bitcoin.
even I didn't see anyone to leave bitcoin. might some people leave it because they got scammed from there. as you know bitcoin full of scammers.

that's a good question, mate on what's stopping people from using bitcoin is they think its hard to get. that usually hard at the first try because you need to start at the faucet then after that taking risk on how to grow it fast then they will try gambling then stock on it end up in losing then starting again that is really annoying. so they'll stop using it or the other reason why they're stop using it because of the anonymous transaction that cant be trace on who send it who received it.

He said it all.   About the long time confirmation I dont like users react to this. Is it because they think it will not come? There should be this thinking that many are doing transactions that is why it takes so long and the ledger is getting bigger.

Many people are skeptic about Bitcoins. They don't know much about it and people are not aware of it's prospects.
Most of the people don't want to understand it. They feel that it's too complicated and some don't have faith in it.

Yeah but its a mistake of people you cannot blame bitcoin for that, people wants to multiply their coins in quick time and they invest their money in those sites without doing any research at initial stage.

That's true, a lot of people forgets about that, the many queues of the transaction can make a long time for the system to giving any confirmation for every transaction.
And then it's normal for me if the confirmation will taking a more time.

Soo people stop using bitcoin because they invest their coins into ponzis? And the fault from those are bitcoin, makes no sense at all, the same way you invest with fiat at some project online you know the odds play always against you. Even at real life you can loose your money when people selling their products. The new bitcoin holders and earners wont stop being at bitcoin community, only if they accumulate a huge loss, even that way they will follow bitcoin.

i think that is not the only reason, the media spreads the information that bitcoins are a bad thing that is used for doing only illegal things and i think that it really keeps people from investing

Well they lose money because of improper decision. This would annoy them using the btc again. Before investing the btc in something, there has to be a study on that. Will the investment on something will bring a good profit or not. Need to consult the experts.
