Dear User,

We regret to inform you that GPUMAX will be permanently closing on
 October 31st, 2012.

While we strongly believe in Bitcoin's continued success, our vision
has always been to provide our users with the greatest opportunities
to utilize their GPU processing power. Creating a mining marketplace
was meant to be the first of many such opportunities, however, due to
the events of recent months, we feel that the best course of action is
 to cease all operations.

Thank you for participating in our beta.

 Regards,

 The GPUMAX Team

dude? seriously?

I'm sure you got an email on October 20th that GPUMAX was shutting down on October 31st.  This is akin to selling a GPU card that you know does not work.  I would hope that knowingly selling a GPU card that you know does not work would get you the scammer tag.

That's what I don't get about the bottom half of the BTC community. They get scammed and think that's some kind of justification for trying to scam everyone else, and they have no shame in doing this.

Does this warrant a scammer tag?

I would have to agree with BCB after thinking about it--he didn't actually succeed, so no slap on the wrist is necessary.

buyer beware.  do your research.  If he took your btc and did not give your access to the account.  He's a scammer.  If he took your BTC and gave you access to the account, you are  just stupid.

^I understand it is not forum mod responsibility (or even a possibility really) to clean up scams, bad stuff, etc, but I can't help but think that something more than disdain for even gullible bitcoiners is deserved.

Pyromaniac attempted to commit an act of deception. His targeting of the stupid doesn't make it any less deceptive.

It's still a scam. He is still a scammer.

If you think stuff like this is "ok" then I would personally advise people against doing business with you in fact.

How about if instead of giving him a SCAMMER tag, we give him a DIPSHIT tag?
