Such a short but difficult question to answer -

- Maybe tell close friends & relatives, maybe even colleagues about bitcoin.

- Give a few of them 0.01 bitcoin or something small to get them started.

- Buy a bitcoin t-shirt or baseball cap or something to wear at a major event (I have already done this )

For the average guy I think that is all you can do aside from maybe using bitcoin as a currency yourself, spend & replenish, help the community that way.

Spread the word, teach other people about it, help people start with bitcoin by telling them how to store/use it safely. If you shop at an online store which doesn't accepts Bitcoin, tell them how you would have preferred to pay with bitcoins if there was such an option.

i think it's not something that one man alone or a group can just do, it's something that will happen eventually if everything will work as intended, people will embrace it at some point

and everything was already done to encourage other to use bitcoin more, i can't really think of anything else, but if they see it only as a quick fiat buck, then it's pointless

We can help adoption by spreading the word as much as we can about Bitcoin. So if there is 1 million of us, crypto users. If each one of us would just get two new people into all of this,  we would have 3 times more users than there are now.

And honestly what is it to get only two of our friends, neighbors or co-workers interested in Bitcoin? This shouldn't be hard at all.

Use it to boost the economy somehow and try to spread the word as long and as broad as we can. I am trying to reach out several friends and family members and talk about them regarding bitcoin and so far, 3 people have been extensively reading about it, interested of what bitcoin could serve for them.

EDIT: Lastly, if we can, try to sell goods and/or services in exchange of bitcoins so that people will have broader options on where to spend their coins, too.

A best for growing bitcoin is using it. There are few shop where you can buy with it, but you can ask a shop if you can pay with bitcoins, its possible that they say no, but if some more people ask about it, they will look about what is bitcoin and will look about if they can use it.
Also teaching your friends about what is, and how works. Now with the mobile wallet apps its very easy for newbies to start in these world.

three things come to my mind that i have already done two of them.
1) spread the word about bitcoin and its benefits to the people around you. like your friends and family,... you can make a wallet for them and teach them how it works and even give them a little bitcoin to hook 'em up and get them started

2) if you have a business like an online shop, you should add bitcoin as a payment method. and start accepting bitcoin yourself first.

3) send out request to places like Amazon, Steam, ... and demand they add bitcoin as a payment method to their service, because you prefer it. if they receive more and more requests and see the enough people are interested in it they might actually add it.

I buy bitcoin, hold and use. When I use bitcoin, it will improve the adoption of bitcoin. When I hold bitcoin, it will reduce the market supply of bitcoin.

Most friends I know are into it as an alternative earning method. Explaining friends who are unemployed, younger ones (students etc.) how to make some bitcoin and how to buy with them seems like a very good method to spread the word for me.

In my opinion, it would be something different from everything that others are offering at the moment, perhaps inventing something very unique and useful and somehow relate it to bitcoin so this way when people get lured towards whatever that has been invented uniquely, same time they get curious about bitcoin as well and makes them do some researches and this could help in someways to make bitcoin grow as it is

If a website uses it, then do that in stead of paypal.  BTC still has a negative rep, everyone I talk to about it seems to think only drug dealers and money launderers have it.  I try to explain that cash is actually much easier to use for crime (no blockchain!) but I don't always get through.  It is slowly becoming mainstream, and the main push will be when it is accepted by more retailers.  It is SO much cheaper and better than alternatives like paypal, that I really think it is only a matter of time.

I think education is one of the most important things to start with. A lot people know Bitcoin as being a thing to invest in with potential high returns. But they don't know the real power of the technology and how it can benefit them when using Bitcoin.
