Where are you guys getting your Pi from? Even the places that people recommend are sold out, say "might ship in 6 months" or have a super inflated price.

I'm just going to keep repeating "it's an Altera HardCopy" because I haven't the slightest clue what I'm talking about.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

I've got one of the new ones with the additional memory.  I might be willing to part with it for a premium.

I ordered from rs-online - and have been waiting over a month.
A friend ordered from element 14, a few weeks after me - got his within 5 days.

Seems to me rs-online are taking money and waiting til they get enough to order in bulk.
Annoyed.

I would WAIT, until you see the state on the USB fix.
If they cannot fix it ,then without a hardware fix a PI is going to be useless as a reliable  mining controller

Actually, I want more than one, and some for non-bitcoin things, so I might as well get one now and get familiar.

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone.

I bought one from RSComponents in June and it just shipped last week, still hasn't arrived. They are very hard to come by. You'll just have to wait it out.

depends where you are in the world but
http://downloads.element14.com/raspberryPi1.html?isRedirect=true
is probably the best bet

In the Beginning there was CPU , then GPU , then FPGA then ASIC, what next I hear to ask ....

I signed up to be contacted when it was my turn to order. Took about a week for that to happen then I got an mail from element 14 with a 1-800 number. I ordered on Oct 28th and the expected delivery time is Dec 15.
FYI.
I bought a few extra units so I can contribute to the BTC economy by puting them up for sale.
I got the latest 512mb versions. Fingers crossed it runs ASICs reliably.

Why did I sell at $5! Come back to me my old bitcoin! 1GjeBGS4KrxKAeEVt8d1fTnuKgpKpMmL6S
