Is there anywhere I can buy some with a debit card or by paypal in uk? I can't do a bank transfer until my new login details arrive in post for net banking.

Getting coins in the uk is a pain and eBay sellers seem to be aware of this judging by the ridiculous prices on there...

BTC buyers don't  have to trust PP.  They just need a verified PP account and a mobile phone for verification.   I take the risk as I'm selling non-reversible BTC for reversible PP.  Thus the 5% fee for the cost of assuming that risk.

If you don't end up with a trade here, your options include:

Blockchain.info has added the ability to use Barclay's Pingit to buy bitcoins using GBP:

And they now also provide Instant online bank transfer in the UK (and Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Switzerland):

Bitcoin-Central has launched its BTC/GBP market, where you can trade after transferring pounds sterling to their bank in France.  The order book is pretty thin yet but they did just launch:

You can also send cash (GBP) in the mail to Bitcoin Nordic (in Denmark):

And, or course, there may be a chance for a local trade:

As far as PayPal, about the only option through an exchange would be VirWoX.  With VirWoX you purchase Second Life Lindens (SLL) using PayPal, then trade those SLLs for BTCs.  It isn't the cheapest method, but PayPal beggars can't be choosers.

Hi bennett211085,

If your debit has Visa or MasterCard verification, you shouldnt have borders.
Also you could buy vouchers and exchange them. Not only Ukash, which would be expansive. I would be interested for example in 3V Vouchers which can be bought at PayPoint. Bank deposit would be cheaper but its not instant, if this is an option for you contact me.

with regards,
FHerzog
