Gandi, one of the most revered registrar (at the dawn of the millenium, they broke the registrar cartel and today are considered the most reliable when it comes to privacy protection), is now accepting bitcoin.

It seems to not be that much popular for the moment: only 0.3 bitcoin of payment (I did not pay before so I assume the same address is used by several accounts)

I just renew one of my website (defisfantastiques.fr) with bitcoin payment. It works.
Maybe one day they'll accept monero Smiley

It is good to hear such news.
Widely accepting bitcoin will lead finally to accept all the altcoins one day.
Now the question is when this day will come?  Smiley

It's always nice to hear that another service starts using Bitcoin. Altoins will be noticed by such services when Bitcoin will come into the mainstream. And this is the question - when this will happen? Wink

Altcoins will never be used as a real currency there is fair to many unless it can take over bitcoin.

BTC is the father of all altcoins, when BTC accepted world wide, some AltCoin will follow BTC wins.
Honestly some trusted company only want to accept BTC only for their payment. (for now)

i'm more interested in how many people will actually pay in bitcoin, and not just if the sto X will accept bitcoin

because there were cases of some store accepting bitcoin, yet people keep using the old fiat

Good news indeed. It is easy to find out new merchant that start accepting bitcoin. However, it is difficult to know how many new consumers have started using bitcoin to make their purchases/payments.

I'll be honest up to today I did not know that site existed, I thought that a famous dead person started adopting Bitcoin while having hunger protests for world peace Smiley

The main benefit is a boost in awareness of the service which can acquire the site a few new users to use Bitcoin there along with current users, the main issue is that there is difficulty in maintaining a complete index of sites that take it after the initial PR fades away and people are not aware of this service or others like it that do take BTC to address their needs.

That said it's good to hear that this prime name of a site is now accepting bitcoin.

ITs the first time I've heard of Gandi actually. I've been with godaddy and namecheap ever since but thanks for letting us know. I should spread the word to fellow webmasters. Smiley

Of course bitcoin can't take over the real currency and its perfect to stay that way after all we need real currency to buy to stores that don't accept coins.

As each day passes, I am more and more disappointed by the alts. Even the most innovative ones that were proclaiming themselves as the new Bitcoin 2.0 kings as Bitshares, NXT, Ethereum are doing very bad and are running out of funds. The most amazing thing is that nobody really wants them and their price is tanking further and further.

More and more I come to a conclusion that world ain't ready even for Bitcoin and not for some alts out there that have barely 10,000 users, no matter how innovative they are.

really happy to hear this news, but one thing is , how is their quality service? , is it better to survive on namecheap or migrating to gandi?

That's a good news! The more Bitcoin will be accepted the better! It' is also nice that you've tried it already, so we all may be sure it works. Good job!

Too pessimistic  Smiley
That's true many altcoins are doing very very bad but not all of them, few sites accepts altcoins deposits like direcbet (dogecoin, dash, Litecoin)...

OrangeWebsite in Iceland is another privacy respecting domain registrar and hosting company that accepts bitcoin. You can buy a top level domain from them with bitcoin and remain private. The article at gun.io blog referenced in OP is 3 years old and could be updated. How does Gandi compare to OrangeWebsite for anonymous website hosting?

FTFY. Litecoin is the father of all altcoins.

It is nice to see that the places to spend bitcoin is broadening and we're seeing a lot of people noticing bitcoins. I just hope that these kind of moves would not be limited to just online services but rather physical stores as well.

Not useful to me but this is a positive news. Wish that popular online shopping websites also accept bitcoins instead of paying via reward points/netbanking.

This is not a new company in the market,
As far as i know this company is founded in 1999 so almost 16 years.
Their domain name is Registered On May 21, 1999, i consider it as an old company Smiley
