I may be missing something but couldn't Mike just tell us roughly how many of those were made and distributed. Although we can't be sure what the recipients did with them, we can at least get an idea of how many were made.

Well I bet if you offer something ridiculous like 10BTC he would go for it Shocked

Lol, could you imagine the mayhem that would happen if monkeynuts opened up an auction for this coin?  I know I wouldn't be a player in that high stakes game, but it would definitely be fun to watch... That kind of auction would for sure go down in history.

I doubt it would go anywhere near 10BTC for it. I am sure people will bid on it quite a bit, but nothing crazy.

I'm surprised how many people have never heard of these, me included. Probably because none have been up for sale.

Looks like there are some serious players interested, I think it would make an interesting auction Tongue.

whoa whoa whoa ! Auction ? This is like feeding time at the zoo  Shocked

If there is an auction for one of these I would potentially be bidding rather than selling

I have a strong PM offer as it happens. Right now I am happy holding though

I will reach out to Mike and see if there are any mintage figures available (even if that is a ballpark figure)

Thanks for the info monkeynuts, I'd never heard of a void / press coin before or seen one.

Is that your coin?

Yep it's mine. Hands off !  Smiley

You start to have a pretty decent Casascius collection Mr. Nuts.

There are the blank 100 BTC bars ? The 8 that are none 2FA have a red dot on them.

Like this one
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291419942852

(the 4 standard 100 blanks dont have the red dot, neither does the single never funded 1000 btc bar)

A mystery to me as well. If I owned one I'd be keeping it for longest of hauls. Check the excitement in this thread at this early a stage in the game.

Wow, never heard of or seen  these. Very cool. I hope you find them.

Anyone think the Casascius market is going to pick back up as we see the BTC price increase (it's had a very steady rise recently!)

Go for it Naypalm, fine with me.

Elianite, if you want to use the pic for the encyclopedia, thats all good as well

Surprised noone else has stepped up saying they have one of these bad boys - whether for sale or not. Makes me think more rare than I first thought, or in the hands of people who may not 'really' know what they have, and who arent active 'coiners'. The distribution channels for these were not the normal for cas coins - generally meet in person, hand to hand exchange, potentially people from mainstream media - whether financial, technology, or just general news. I would love a link to any news articles / paper based media where these coins were pictured as part of the story, would add nice provenance to the coin. If anyone has one, I would appreciate it.

If they were mostly given away to media, I am sure they probably opened them up to see how they worked before throwing them away.

You're probably right or they're sitting at the back of a drawer or in a box in the attic and forgotten about. It wouldn't surprise me if there were very few in hand with someone that frequents here or has any interest in crypto.

I think you've got yourself a little gem there monkeynuts Cool.
