No, not on this forum.

I was on the forum of an online game (TIB) and posting about the "Bitcoin concept" in the General Discussion section, a post with a short description and a few links to learn more, like weusecoins.com, etc. I was also planning to offer trades BDs (the in-game currency) to BTCs, basically offering a new use for BTCs.

I got twice deleted!  Huh

They said it looks like I'm advertising something that I'm selling and a few that heard about it quickly labeled as a scam (of course with no arguments for it). Lol, how can you advertise a currency? Hey buddiiies, heard about Canadian Dollars? You should really buy a few to have at home, good currency to have.

LMAO! Felt like Galileo and the Spanish inquisition, the Earth is round ... Burn him!

Some people don't understand Bitcoin unless they try it! I also rejected Bitcoin as a scam or PayPal alternative that requires to install some software on my PC to use it. I'm not a fool in any sense but sometimes we behave like a communists. "I have not read the forbidden book but I already know that it is full of wrong shit!"

This is our virtual national past-time. My advice is to be polite and ask as many questions as you provide answers. How quickly you respond may have something to do with whether you get banned or your thread locked.

The only time I've been banned from a forum: http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum/general-shop-talk/276953-bitcoin-potential-payment-photography.html

... "I have not read the forbidden book but I already know that it is full of wrong shit!"

That's exactly what I got. They had no idea on what or how Bitcoin works yet they already knew it was a scam and it couldn't work.

Most of general population are mild retards that cannot even understand differences between folder and ZIP file, struggle with attaching file to e-mail and so on. They probably never understand how Bitcoin really works and will believe what someone with "more authority" says.

Sad, but true.

Ask people to explain how paper money works, and not one in 10 will give you a remotely accurate answer.

"The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent meetings and conferences. The apex of the systems was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world's central banks which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank...sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world."

I think you guys need to be more careful certainly if I see someone posting something that looks like an advertisement i.e viagra and counterfeit clothing I instantly ban them. Going around and posting about it as if you're trying to sell won't win you many friends, I'm keeping a fairly low profile on this board myself for that reason when I could just have come in and spammed like crazy Tongue You just need to show examples of it working etc I've signed up with bitpay and I'm going to put it up on my site, I also have absolutely no publisher or anything like that for the manga I'm making so I'm going to put it on bittorrent for free. That's free worldwide advertising! What moron would say no to that?

When the economy collapses again and I'm predicting a collapse of the whole EU at this point, you'll see people looking for an alternative and they'll most likely come to Bitcoin like I have to diversify, just don't be pushy and it'll be fine.

Already happening, as far as I can tell.

Why counterfeit clothes are so bad? They don't keep you warm and you are still naked when wearing them?

But trolling about Bitcoins are no help. People are suspicious when someone offers them to invest to new things that are related to money. In past all such advertising of "internet money" were scams.

I was posting neutral, something like "Bitcoin is a digital currency, here is a link to read more, here is a link to a forum, etc." ... not preaching Bitcoin. Hell, I'm not even 100% sold myself.

To play devil's advocate, maybe this was the real reason for the delete?

Most games don't like "gold-sellers." But from the rest of your posts, it looks like they were just really hating on the Bitcoin. That's a shame.

I thought about it too, but that "trade" post was done in the Market section of the forum. I didn't want to make that thread a Bitcoin Q&A so I turned to the General Discussion forum and posted the second post. Anyways, finally there is a post that didn't get deleted and you know what they say: bad advertising is better than no advertising at all, lol.

informing them of bitcoin, maybe fine. telling them to google stuff maybe fine. but linking them to websites and informing them your going to offer a service requesting their game tokens for a currency they only learnt about through you.

well risky.

maybe should have spread the posts out abit. get them use to bitcoin before informing them ur going to offer a service. or all they will read is a cryptic way of u asking for their game tokens.

just dont throw too much at them in one guy. you have to build up trust and understanding slowly and not believe that you will get it automatically purely because you believe in it yourself using one post.

acceptable:
have you heard about bunny credits. google them or check out this link weusebunny.com..

not acceptable:
have u heard about bunny credits. i have been using them for years. and soon i will be trading game tokens for bunny credits. contact me if interested. here are some links to help you understand its all above board. weusebunny.com bunnytalk.org

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

If you want to avoid being banned from forums, you sometimes need to take a more subtle approach to promoting bitcoin. Dont use the word "bitcoin" in the thread title, use "virtual currency" instead. Then put a link to some press article describing how bitcoin is being used in similar situations to the one you are suggesting. Include a long quote from the press article that describes how bitcoin is being used.

The article will mention bitcoin and its properties, so you wont have to. This avoids giving the appearance that you are promoting bitcoin.

That's just propaganda, and is unnecessary.  Bitcoin doesn't need any promotion.  If it did, it would eventually fail.  Just let it take it's own course, and if others don't wish to hear it; just dust of your sandals and move on.

"The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole.
