I just read this on reddit. This guy is awesome. He probably tipped them the money of their lifetime. Also this is why bitcoin is so great, you can use it anywhere.

Idk but this reminds me of the "fat kid" and the store behind him from  The Interview directed by Seth Rogen.  Smiley

I think that's a great film and I also think that the North Korea is the Kingdom of Lie like the Soviet Union was.

North Korea will probably try to crack down on bitcoin users eventually. He has a lot of balls for going there.

How will bitcoin get to North Korea?
No exports, tourists, etc.
They are better off just using the local currency.  Tongue

Only around a thousand or so individuals have access to internet in North Korea. And most of these individuals are family members of Kim Jong Un or the other high ranking government or military officials. As long as the Bitcoin usage remains limited to this sector, the North Koreans are not going to do anything about it.

Chinese mobile networks are working quite well on a significant part of North Korean territory. There are plenty of people who are using mobile phones and 3G internet illegally.

Hmm.. it is true that there is a lot of propaganda made against North Korea and Kim Jong Un. The movie made by Seth Rogen is an example. But that aside, no one can deny the fact that the North Korean dictatorship is one of the most brutal regimes in the world right now. Hundreds of thousands of people are currently imprisoned in labor camps, where the conditions are hellish.

Large number of North Koreans are working outside their nation. Russia is home to somewhere between 20,000 and 30,000 of them (mostly in the Siberian timber industry), and the Russian government want to increase the numbers. Tens of thousands more work in countries such as Malaysia, Qatar (~3,000), China (~8,000), Africa.etc.
