I have looked around the forum to see if anyone has a suggestion on which fan you could replace the bottom one with but i haven't found anything. SO...

1. Any suggestions on a model of fan to replace the bottom fan with?
2. Is the bottom heat sink just stuck on with thermal tape? It doesn't seem to have any screws other then the fan itself.

Thanks!

2 or 3 fan unit?
Heatsink fan combo or just a casefan?
Pretty sure there was a guy that replaced fans on his but he replaced casefans and would hate to dig up the post to find out you need a different fan.

Just about any 92mm fan that uses at or very near the same wattage will work.Cut the wires & resolder with heat shrink around them to keep from shorting.

If you try to use a fan consuming more wattage you may fry something in your Single  Shocked

Not sure about how the bottom heat sink is attached.Mine works fine,so I haven't messed with it,even after 6 months  Shocked

No the bottom fan not the 92mm case fan on top. Its like a 36mm fan.

Opps,my bad,I thought most came with 3 fans  Roll Eyes

Is this close to it ??

It's all I can find for now,I'll keep looking  Wink

The HS/fan seems to be glued or is stuck on with some really good stuff.

Shouldn't have to remove the whole HS/fan,just unscrew the 3 screws & swap it.

2. Is the bottom heat sink just stuck on with thermal tape?
From what I can tell yes. I actually have a 79mm fan blowing onto that small heatsink, and it helps with the temps a tiny bit.

Tips? 1crazy8pMqgwJ7tX7ZPZmyPwFbc6xZKM9

Yeap it is very close to this one, I couldn't find one anywhere so i just removed it and stuck on another 92mm. Keeps it nice and cool for now but i will need to get a replacement before i upgrade. The fan is basicly destroyed from me removing it. For some reason 1 screw was striped for i had to use some other ways to get it off....

Thanks for the help

Question is do you (BFL) need the fan sent back in order to get a replacement? because i have already thrown it away since it was dead.

Thanks!

Thank you, I have requested a new one. In the mean time the 2nd 92mm fan is working great.

I had the bottom fan go out on my single.  I sent a request and 2 days later I received a package with 2 replacement bottom fans and 1 top fan.

I honestly was not expecting to get them for free, but I'm thankful I did.

I disassembled my FPGA Single for the first time after reading this thread to check my bottom heatsink fan,it was dead too.So I emailed BFL & they wrote back "its on its way".Sure enough 3 working days later I got my new fan & a 92mm one also  Shocked

I need to get some small heatshrink tubing to resolder my wires, like the unit is now & I'll be back in bidness boi  Cool
