I'm usually not a fan of DRM anything, but I believe Steam has the right business model. Low prices, good customer service, great games, regular sales (as in every day), etc.

I believe Steam has the right business model. Low prices, good customer service, great games, regular sales (as in every day), etc. Low cost is too high! I expect every software for free. I might reward the work of the coder if he does the work exclusively for me. The Steam also is a closed source system with who knows what they phone home. Steam is plagued with censorship, there is games that got pulled from it because they are "too violent". Steam is not the open system and freedom what computers are all about. So Steam are for noobs.

I don't use Steam. Steam is evil. Steam is super good. Gaben gives us quality games on the cheap. If only they accepted Dwolla, you could buy games with bitcoins after converting them to fiat dollars. Origin is evil.

Steam had a good idea in delivering pc games for low cost but yeah, those people are very boxed, but then again you have to look at who runs it. Valve software are the biggest bunch of closed-minded people I've ever ran into.

What's wrong with DVD discs or ISO files from Scene release groups? They are more convenient than any digital delivery methods. Yes the Warez is digital delivery but it requires no additional software on your system and the permanent nature of ISO file gives you the freedom of controlling your own computer!
I still love Valve for Half-Life but I hate the WON shutdown.

I have to stave off torrenting, so I've been buying to feed my games addiction. Frickin' copyright. As far as I'm concerned, piracy is the greatest form of flattery.

I've always thought steam (or anyone really) should do away with single game purchases and have a monthly fee for full access to all the games, pay the developers based on how often the game is played, Everyone having access to every game would lead to some epic online play... but steam is "for profit" so good luck with having anything good.

So a Netflix for Games. That's actually a pretty kickass idea, basically what Gamefly does, but I think Gamefly only ships out games :/ It'd be awesome though

Steam is not just DRM, it is a monopoly, I've actually gvien up using Steam entirely and put it on my boycott list like Origin etc. and I don't regret it one bit. It seems like a great idea until you start having problems, then you'll start hating it like the rest of us, you don't own games anymore you just rent them for the full price which in my opinion is fucking outrageous.

Not a big fan of steam per se but it's not bad for picking up budget games and some of the sales are pretty awesome. Plus when my old (199x) half-life disk wouldn't install under Windows 7, I put the CD key in Steam and it installed right off and gave me a bunch of others in the series for free as well.
It's a dream compared to that Windows live crap that installs as well. That never remembers my account details so it's password resets etc.
I don't see Steam going console as all of the console makers are too up their own rear ends with walled gardens, DRM and total nazi-like control of their systems. Unless Steam plans to build their own console. But unless you can plug a keyboard and mouse into it, I'm not interested (and wouldn't be even then).

I am alright with steam, I certainly see the beginnings of something evil but most of us here are loyal windows users and we *know* how bad things can get. Bring it on! I use steam rarely but the portability of the games is a cool concept.

I play Wii, but my kids just became 2 and 4, and PES online aswell as Mario Kart online. Would steam pose a threat to that?
