I also agree with Ariza, at least Blazers has now a wing man defender, CJ and Lillard and just pure offence player, they need someone to defend outside.

So is he going to be in the first 5 if Blazers will successfully acquired him?

He is a small forward, so definitely he can be in the starting 5 if the Blazers management will think of boosting their starting line up.

Imagine how strong their first 5.

Whiteside : center
Anthony : PF
Ariza : SF
Lillard : PG
CJ : SG

The line up looks a real playoff contender, and I think Ariza would be better when he played with the Blazers, definitely he can rely on Lillard and CJ to produce consistent offense for the team and Whiteside is very effective inside.

I can't wait to see this line up playing.

If I am to decide, I will make Anthony a small forward than a power forward. Whiteside can play both center or PF so I think it's better for the blazers to find another bigman than Ariza. I'm not saying Ariza is a bad acquisition but a bigman will definitely make their line up more solid.

And at the West this strong five will not make it through the second round. Sad but true.

But, yeah there will always be that "but".
Look at the roster now. They are filling it with shooters. Ariza is the most effective defender for those type of guys.

Blazers is on the 11th spot in the West. This team had been the Western Conference Finals contenders.
They might have seen something wrong and that is why they want an overhaul with their type of defense.
Maybe they see a hole which makes them weak and here is the offer for a cure.
Let us see if that will really be the medicine.

What did they lose that put them on the 11th spot.
Seth Curry. One hell of a good defender.
Now look at where is Seth now? At the 5th spot with Dallas.  Wink

There is just no files to back it up.
Defense won't be seen on stats.

I will take Trevor Ariza as a great deal. He is a good wing man in defense. Long span with experience in defending scorers.
Better than just being pure offensive Blazers.

Right, Blazers already have too many offensive players and less defensive ones. Ariza is a good addition defensive wise.

Jordan Clarkson is still young at age 27. He could still make his way to the top if he does make a lot of effort for it.
Salary will come also to those who could perform well.

I think he will turn Free agency this year. If he continues his good performance, it will surely attract a good contract and hopefully, he gets the pay that he deserves.

Agree to that, Clarkson deserve good paycheck after this year if he still in a healthy conditions with this types of exposures for sure great deal will be offer to him. I like the way he's doing right now keeping his offensive capabilities to materialize, helping the team winning their games. Hope the rally will continue and start to create deeper connection between players and coaches.

I don't get why this topic loves Utah Jazz this much, for example Grizzlies have been on a 7 win streak as well which is even more astonishing because these guys were at 9th spot, even at 10th spot at one point but now they are about 2 games away from the 9th spot and managed to secure a spot at playoffs for this time being.

It is always good too see a good team go on a roll and have a win streak and move up positions but this was a team that actually everyone thought would miss playoffs and were tanking but they made a great streak of wins to come back here. After sending Marc Gasol and Mike Conley, people assumed memphis would be basically tanking all year and rivaling teams like kings or wolves at the fight for the bottom but now after sending two of their superstars that helped build this team, they are still looking like a first round exit team.

For those who want to see how each team's bench performs, here is the link (Jazz having 5th worst bench so far this season)
https://stats.nba.com/teams/traditional/?sort=PTS&dir=-1&Season=2019-20&StarterBench=Bench&SeasonType=Regular%20Season
Nice stat. Nothing more than I can agree about. You know the Washington Wizards has a good set of bench points. However, they don't have a great first five line up. With the addition of Bertans, I think they could something on their respective conference. But, with the absence of John Wall somehow balanced the good bench team at all.

Really? ONLY SCORES 15 points? Dude for a team that has a sht bench team makes Jordan Clarkson a great addition to that team. The dude was averaging 14.6 points on 23 minute game. And per stat-wise, https://www.espn.com/nba/team/stats/_/name/utah, Clarkson was only playing 15.4 minutes per game. That's big addition with low minutes given. That makes other role-players perform their own roles. Jazz is pretty solid this season. They're 29-13 and sitting at the 4th seat in the west.
I think you understand him wrong here.
Somehow he is trying to give him a good analysis. The "only" word is what made it bad.  Grin
Quoted the good line above in bold. I hope I am right though.
You're right man. Cheesy the word only made the statement bad. That's why there was an emphasis on my part.

It's not about payments dude, it's about his dedication to the game. Yes, Clarkson is super underrated player and I don't think his paycheck deserves what he is capable of. But men, look at this guy, playing without complain on how much he gets and that's how his professionalism be seen.

You didn't understand the context of what the user is saying.

I will elaborate it for you, if Clarkson will maintain his good performance, there are other teams that will show interest to him and will offer him a good contract that above his average. And I don't see why he should complain on how much he gets. His party agreed on it.

I am thinking of a possible $20 million per year or a $100 million contract at least, he deserve that even with his minutes, or if the team really wants to maximize his contribution in the floor, then he should put him in the starting line up.

We are sharing here and you have done yours. Thank you for that.
Now I am looking at Grizzlies and we can talk about it.
I think they got exhausted after that 7 winning streak. They lose it against the young Pelicans.
This just shows how much room for Ja Morant and the Grizzlies to be a higher caliber of a team.

It is always good too see a good team go on a roll and have a win streak and move up positions but this was a team that actually everyone thought would miss playoffs and were tanking but they made a great streak of wins to come back here. He also has the experience in the playoffs with the Lakers and the Rockets, so and he can be trusted in crucial moments which would be a positive impact for the Blazers, this guy does not only depend, he also is a good 3 point shooter which is needed for the Blazers as that is their style of play, they are a jump shooting team, so I believe he will be a good fit.

Actually, he did win a championship with the Lakers.
He did most of the defense during that year (2009 Lakers championship). If I am not mistaken he is like 3-6 steals average per game.
Something which we don't see much now.

Experience and being a veteran, he could provide good contribution for this Blazers team.
Betting line is still open for the Mavericks against the Clippers.
As a Mavericks fan I will bet for them @2.18 although -3.5.

I think he will turn Free agency this year. If he continues his good performance, it will surely attract a good contract and hopefully, he gets the pay that he deserves.

What I mean is his professionalism towards the sports of basketball. Playing without complain about his paycheck is what makes him special. Yes of course he will have have good offers if he continue to play this efficiently but this is only possible after the season ends. Right now, he is focused on how he can help his team and not about how much he can earn.

CJ : SG

If I am to decide, I will make Anthony a small forward than a power forward. Whiteside can play both center or PF so I think it's better for the blazers to find another bigman than Ariza. I'm not saying Ariza is a bad acquisition but a bigman will definitely make their line up more solid.

I think with Whiteside in the middle, I think it is enough for them to at least go and make the playoffs. They acquire Ariza for a reason here, maybe they wanted to run more often with Lillard, CJ, Anthony and Ariza.

They are on the 8 spot by this time and their winning streak was snapped by the Pelicans.
Maybe a 10 or more games winning streak from a bottom seed teams would typically catch their attention. I was even surprised why the name Ja Morant wasn't in a hot discussions lately. I mean this rookie is something special he's so athletic, make his own shot, and can do assist.

Indeed a real playmaker.
I love watching those type of players just like Doncic.

Ja has different style though. Doncic tends to penetrate the paint with a style which is difficult to defend while Ja uses his agility to force his way in.
With a good passing skill these two will be more difficult to guard.
But, they both need more experience and they are getting a lot of it by now.  Wink

I will take Trevor Ariza as a great deal. He is a good wing man in defense. Long span with experience in defending scorers.
Better than just being pure offensive Blazers.

Thanks for the correction, I thought he never won a championship..

It is more better for the Blazers now since he has big experience in the NBA, this guy is legit, he can bring much energy on the floor and his team will play defense which I believe that's what the Blazers needed for a very long time already.
