What a game! The Spurs let OKC get back in the game in the last 5 minutes. It’s been back and forth at the end though. Great basketball. Wemby looks absolutely exhausted out there and got blocked at the end of regulation.

Tied at 101 at the end of 4 quarters. Now to overtime…

Great basketball indeed. Both team put effort on their defense to make the game more exciting to watch. This matchup seems like an NBA finals due to the hustle plays on this game.

I’m betting with San Antonio on this game. We should win already if they didn’t let OKC get the momentum.

I’m surprised that this game has a very fair foul calls compared to previous game of OKC.

Just like that, we’re headed to double overtime. That three-pointer by Wemby from nearly half court to tie the game was insane. It reminded me of Steph doing something similar in the playoffs a few years back. This has turned into the best game of the playoffs so far!

He has a lot of crucial block which is the main reason why they maintain and extend the lead on the last OT.

I thought he will be exhausted already but he managed to somehow survive and still dominant. Being an OKC is very a stressful now during defense because Wemby alone is very hard to defend while there’s Harper that is very efficient to create points for Spurs.

I saw someone else post this picture online. This is the shot that Steph took that reminded me of Wemby’s tonight side by side. Pretty amazing. Wemby did take the shot because the clock put him in a “2 for 1” position, but it is still impressive anyway because it went in and a casual wouldn’t know why he shot from so deep…

OKC doesn’t have a tough guy that can lock down Wemby while SGA was also shutdown on this game since Spurs has a solid and clean defense to avoid a contact to initiate fouls by OKC.

The only to defeat Spurs is put Wemby on foul trouble early to crush Spurs defense and offense.

But how can they manage to do that if Wemby has a lot of teammates now that is good on assists and defense too.

Tonight is the night that Wemby put the league on notice. Taking out the MVP and dominating with 41 points and 24 rebounds. The only weakness the Spurs showed was in their guards handling of the ball. A huge win without Fox on the floor. First loss of the postseason for the Thunder. I don’t think it will be their last…

When was the last time that we have seen someone taking it personal because they didn't win the MVP? Right, it was MJ losing the MVP to Charles Barkley and then the Bulls beating the Phoenix Suns of Barkley to proved a point.

And that's what Wemby did, he dominated the Thunder and OKC with his performance. Game tying 3 and then blocking Williams to seal the win for them. Chet looks helpless in the end as he just got on 8 points.

I was shocked when I saw the score. San Antonio and Wemby started the series very focused. If Wemby continues like this, OKC won't have an easy time. I didn't watch the game, but I'll check the highlights at the first opportunity. I thought OKC had won, but I was shocked when I saw the score.
Wemby had a double-double, but it had the effect of a triple-double. 24 rebounds, 9 of which were offensive rebounds. With this win, San Antonio started the series 0-1 ahead and gained home-court advantage.

Wemby is all over the place defense offense, Caruso have a great night, but the spurs really make things hard for the OKC thunder SGA did not score a lot Chet also, this will be another great game in game 2, hoping everyone is healthy so that they could show full force.

I have always believed in the San Antonio Spurs, probably because of Wemby I was never in any doubts what he would do, because I know what he is capable of doing, and he absolutely delivered, but I don’t really like to make it about Wemby, because the whole team was outstanding in game 1, and he was obviously all over the place with attacking and defending, which is why I have always said he deserves the MVP, Honestly speaking SGA doesn’t deserve to win the MVP, no doubt his been good, but Wemby deserves it more than SGA, when you watch the game you will obviously see the difference between them and who deserves the MVP, and we are going to see more in game 2, Wemby will be nailing it in the game with OKC, I absolutely think OKC is not a match for San Antonio Spurs.

Shockingly, even after leading the league in scoring, Luka got 0 MVP votes.

I think the voting should be change and let the players decide and also the fans its not that other people are not qualified but i think they might be bias on making decisions over who is the MVP, the people and fans already know who is the MVP so let them decide or at least give the voting power to decide who is the real MVP, although SGA also a front runner but its clear that someone is better and they should acknowledge that, giving an MVP to the person even though someone is better should not be done in my own opinion.

Almost but Wemby managed to keep his focus to the game, Carusso giving him that challenge and he almost bite that few minutes left in the final quarter, I was in the impression that Wemby might got a flagrant foul when he got that offensive call but the ref needs to review and luckily they did not call it against Wemby just a regular offensive foul, I like the competition as both teams have fresh legs both are composed of young generation stars and they all showing why they deserve to be in the WCF finals.

Let us wait and see if how OKC will adjust as they need to find the way to win, Spurs continue being their Kryptonite as they done it again in front of OKC's crowd.

And seems to be a game 7 of the NBA finals, not just conference finals. So it's a momentum game for the Spurs, not just Wemby but rookie Harper as well. We have been talking about this kid this his series break out performance against the Wolves and so he continue to do so at the start of this game against the Thunder.

They have done it without Fox, and I don't think that he can comeback in this series. But since they are deep in terms of guards, it's a none factor and again, we can't say more of the Alien as if he is the experience already. He carry them to a tough double OT against the defending champion, the current and MVP, and finals MVP.

How do I start about Wemby... He played like a real MVP! That 3-PT from around the logo to keep his team in the game was amazing. If he keeps this effort up mostly during the series Spurs will have a bigger chance to advance to final.

But I still doubt Spurs about that consistency. Thunder look better as a team most of the time so we'll see...

The result will be more potentially biased or unfair on states that has more population since they will just support their own player to win the MVP title.

Same ideology on how we view the foul calls of referees. We are happy if it’s against the enemy while we are angry when it’s against our favorite team.

I think the current system is fine. They just need to calibrate it a bit to carefully consider different angle on determining how valuable the player is on the team.

He's the one lifting the spirt of OKC and its great to see him perform then contribute 31 pts for his team. If he didn't heat up on first quarter maybe the lead of Spurs will became huge. But still solid game for both teams and fans enjoy that double overtime happen on that game.

I rarely watch NBA games in this year's playoffs for unknown reasons but before the Game 1 even start, I already said to myself that I'll watch the whole game, and MAN it didn't disappoint me at all... aside from those Thunder fans of course who are now disappointed that they're chanting "REFS YOU SUCK!!!" when their "MVP" SGA can't shoot a free throw. What a joke.

Anyway, before the game started, I'm already thinking that the Spurs could upset the Thunder knowing that they're 4-1 on the regular season against them, and in all those 5 games, Wemby is better in all stats compared to Chet and we also saw it here. Speaking of Wemby, he's also the youngest player in NBA history to have 40+ points and 20+ rebounds in a playoff game. What an Alien we have right now in the league.

Let's also give credits to 2 things:
1. To Caruso who carried the team and scored a career-high 30-points off the bench.
2. Those Spurs who are very good at defending SGA. I mean from Castle to Bryant to Harper to Johnson to Vassell. All of them defended SGA pretty well, and because of that, SGA only shot 7/23 from the field.

I will say it right now. The one who will win in the West will win the title. That's my prediction. Also, it's good that I for some reasons put a bet on the Spurs on winning because I won.

imo comparing Wemby and Chet doesn’t make any sense at all anyway. there’s a massive gap between the two players. there isn't a single area where Wemby is lacking. and then you have Chet saying they would cook Shaq and Kobe ))).
Also, they are being incredibly physical with Wemby and constantly hacking him. The refs tolerated it to some extent for now but that won't fly on the Spurs home court.

The fact that the Spurs became the first team to beat the Thunder in these playoffs already suggests that the Western Conference Finals will be an exciting and highly competitive series. Let's see how the teams perform in Game 2, but I think this loss has really shaken the Thunder.

Anthony Edwards's locker room interview is basically the summary of everything. 'Man, he is just so long. He takes away every option. You can't get to the rim, you can't hit a jump shot. His feet are so good, he moves fast... he’s truly one of one.

Game 1 was awesome in the West. I know a lot of us here are hyped with what happened. Double overtime in the first game of the Western Conference Finals says a lot of things. They are a good match. Wemby still has a lot of room to grow, and he started seriously now, unlike against the Timberwolves in Game 1. I guess he learned his lesson.

Later will be the East Finals. I can also see a good match-up. A battle of speed from the guards. Harden, Mitchell, Schoder versus Brunson, Hart, and Clarkson. When it comes to the big men, they will need KAT to step up his defensive skills. Mobley will be a threat anywhere, just like him, but the wingspan can be a big difference. Perhaps Bridges will be a better defender against him.

Anyway, I am also excited about what will happen in the East, and I hope it's as good as what just happened in the West. Crossing my fingers that no injuries will happen.

It's disappointing that I haven't watched the game earlier and only saw the news and posts online. The game were really close in all quarters including the 2 OT and I though it was really a finals match lol. I would say Wemby is one of the talented young players we have on the NBA, not only that he's 7 footer but he's all around he proves that he is not only strong on the paint but as you can see that he took a crucial shot on the logo with 20+ seconds left, I mean, who took a shot like that and he's a center position. Anyway, congrats on the Spurs they do deserved to win on the round 1 of the conference finals, Wemby really give his all and I look forward on seeing more of him in the upcoming rounds.
