Miami Heat,
made the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade, but sent almost half the team away for it. How sensible is it to take such a risk for this player? He's a good player, but Miami is giving away too much. If Miami can't win a championship in two years, they will be in big trouble.

And so it is Miami for Giannis:

https://x.com/ShamsCharania/status/2069266716551508221

Win-win situation for both, the Heat getting Giannis + Portis. So he will be in another championship contender team.

In exchange the Bucks have got a young talent and future picks for their rebuilding.

Finally it's happened then! Giannis is 31 years old now. He turns 32 in December which is during regular season. But still as he is a superstar I expect him to be very useful for at least a few more years.  Smiley

Now Heat needs to act smart. They've sent many players in exchange for him. They need to keep the roster as good as possible and the depth is very crucial. Otherwise they can't do much in playoffs.

Miami sacrifice their best guard and potential good player from high pick just to acquire Giannis that already not that dominating in the league.

Giannis and Bam might be a good twin tower duo but I wonder if this will work on the current meta of NBA which is on 3point shot accuracy contest.

Anyway, let’s see how this trade will work.
I'm just saying in my previous post that the Heat have a better trade package therefore the Bucks should get that one, and they really did. Cheesy As for Miami sacrificing their guard, they still have Mitchell who's their starting PG last season and he averaged 9.6 APG, and as for offense, they still have Powell who had a good regular season, and Wiggins who can erupt at any given night as well.

Aside from that 2-big lineup that could be their problem, another problem that I'm looking is their bench players because their bench right now is nowhere near the likes of the Knicks, or even the Pistons. There's still time though, and I'm pretty sure that they'll have trades here and there to make their team better, and now that they already have Giannis, some role players might get attracted to go to Miami especially if they want to increase their chances of winning a title.

Now that the Giannis' trade drama is over, what's next now for this off-season? Randle being traded? Meh. McCollum being signed by Atlanta? Meh. Nobody talks them that much. Cheesy I guess the big question now is, "Which team will get Lebron James this off-season?"

Heat is going to all-in on Giannis thinking that they need bench players. Bucks is on rebuilding phase now. I think they will fine on their newly acquired potential player to be developed further.

Other news is Thanasis was already waived by Bucks hours after the trade announcement. It seems Heat main target for deal is Thanasis since he will be acquired by Heat later on.  Grin

Seriously, I don’t believe anymore on old star player with value considering that top team nowadays are composed of young athletes that developed slowly by the team.

tbh Pat Riley took a massive gamble by trading for Giannis. they have no assets left to make any other moves. all they did was guarantee themselves a spot as a play in team, that’s it.
things had gotten to a point where milwaukee would have profited even if they had just let Giannis walk. because the situation had become that toxic.

Lebron not asking for Max would be weird, of course he would ask for it. And yes I am sure that Lebron will want to get the max, there is no doubt that he will ask for the max, and if Lakers offers that then he will take it, but if Lakers do not offer max and someone else does? Then I am pretty sure, even though he would rather stay at Lakers, he may have to leave.

This is not about Lebron wanting to stay or not, it's about Lakers offering him what he deserves or not, if they do, then he stays.

Yeah, they sent many players together with their future picks so hopefully they'll be able to manage and maximize the use of Giannis pairing him with Bam, they've good core but they still need to work with their rotations so having role players who can contribute while the superstars are resting might be crucial for them, though I believe in what coach Spo can bring if Giannis quickly adopt how Miami play their system then there's a great chance for them being competitive from the east side.

And the rumor turned out to be real, great news so far for the Miami Heat because a real star player like Giannis is the answer.

I hope he will stay healthy so the Heat will be back in the Finals again. With great coaching, Giannis’ chance to be a champion again is very high.
I am so excited for the coming season because I am really expecting Miami to be on top in the East.

looking at the nba futures  odds. Miami is still +1800 here, maybe this is not updated yet.

This is fresh news, but even so I think the bookies already reflected the correct odds, it will no longer be that high anymore.

Considering the team has good coaching and now Giannis has joined them, that would easily make them a playoff team. I would not be surprised if they will be top 3, but top 1, I do not want to ride with the hype because chemistry is still very important.

But with what is happening, I am seeing this movement like when LeBron joined the Heat, maybe a back to back championship for this team.  Cheesy

He will lead this team from now on obviously. They have a great coach like Erik Spoelstra as well. If they have a good roster for next season then I expect a solid playoffs performance by them. Doing really nice things in their conference...

After the trade, they still have a great roster, and I believe this team will become a very defensive team.

Just imagine Giannis and Adebayo playing together, who can stop them in the paint, and the fact that Adebayo has developed his 3-point shooting would make them very unpredictable. I cannot wait to see how these two big men will work, hopefully they will have good chemistry so our expectation will come into reality.

Reports are saying that Pat Riley isn’t done yet. He is currently trying to get Kawhi Leonard on the roster to pair with Giannis and Bam. There are also rumors that if Kawhi can’t be obtained, they will make an offer to LeBron James… Looks like Pat Riley wants to get one more chip before retiring.

There is a draft night ahead in NBA. Round 1 draft is starting today. Is there any player who is attracting your attention currently? Is there anyone who has a big player potential?

By the way Giannis has really made the right move for himself. If he stayed at Bucks he was going to waste his years. Because Bucks are really finished now to be honest. Sad He didn't have his mates anymore with whom he won the championship.

I like this move for Giannis. He's going to have new set of teammates. While for Herro and others who are traded to the Bucks, they're also going to have new environment and teammates too. I think that both teams are still in good shape and they're able to make their new teams greater. But the real winner here is the Heat. No hate for Giannis and there's this meme that Kuzma thought that he was part of the trade but he's not. At least once upon a time, Giannis was able to carry the Bucks to its title.

Bucks and Heat dropping the bomb first.

I'm expecting that there will be more this kind of trades in the coming days. As the draft comes closely, there will be more trade rumors that we'll like.

But we all like some surprises that will be on the news and it's already done deal.

And I thought they didn't like the Miami Heat offer. Here we are now. Cheesy

I think it's something that's sweetened the deal.

Here is the trade.

Quote
Heat receive:
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Bobby Portis

Bucks receive:
Tyler Herro
Kel’el Ware
Jaime Jaquez Jr.
Kasparas Jakučionis
No. 13 pick in 2026 NBA Draft
First-round picks in 2031 and 2033
Pick swap in 2030
Second-round pick in 2033
https://www.nba.com/news/reports-heat-acquire-giannis-antetokounmpo-in-blockbuster-deal

If I remember it right, the last offer stopped at First-round picks in 2031 and 2033. They added two more offers, and I guess the Milwaukee Bucks cannot refuse them anymore. They may have just used the strategy "we don't like the offer" so that they can get more. It worked.

Now they are free of Giannis, and they can rebuild with young players. They just hope they can get one as strong as that Greek Freak, who gave them another championship after a long run.
Well, the Knicks did great at rebuilding. Maybe the Bucks can do the same.

Well, the Knicks did great at rebuilding. Maybe the Bucks can do the same.

They really chose Tyler Herro over Jaylen Brown… I see they got more picks and some other throw ins as well, so it seems to me they were doing this trade to get more pieces they can trade in the future. Maybe they thought doing small deals and having lots of picks would be better for them to build a new team with than getting a better player.

Heat is just a great team as you know. They can turn an average NBA player into a much better one. Even a star... I think they can rise from the ashes after Giannis' arrival now.  Smiley

Taking LeBron back to Miami to pair with Giannis and Bams is a long shot, but cannot be ruled out either, since LeBron's camp was just using the demand for a max contract against the Lakers as a leverage, so the front office would be forced to use the saved money on building a championship roster rather than saving from luxury taxes. The Lakers had originally zero interests in granting LeBron a max contract, so regardless whether he is staying in LA or going for the Heat, he will take a huge pay cut.
Now, the decision whether LeBron stays or not probably depends on who the Lakers are going to acquire this off season.

The Bucks will do the rebuilding and they're going to make it somehow although it will take some time. It's funny that I've seen a circulating video that Jacquez was in their practice when he's traded that he has no idea it happened. I think that teams should give prior notice to their players for a potential trade. But that's been part of the culture of the NBA, IIRC, there was a player who's in the midst of a game while being traded.

This is supposedly the Lakers offer to the Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo. I think it is a strong offer. I would have loved to see them accept it. The Lakers don’t need any of those pieces. Although I think Adou has a lot of potential.
