The Boston Celtics have agreed to trade Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George. This is an absolutely insane trade. Jaylen Brown is in his prime and a great player while Paul George is a buyout candidate. What a horrible trade for the Celtics and a gift for the 76ers.
This is truly an unbelievable trade, it's so hard to understand why they accepted it! Jaylen Brown played incredibly well last season, he was the most effective player on his team, and he single-handedly filled in for injured players. So why did they make such a trade? Trading just for a draft pick and Paul George is ridiculous! Their salaries are very close, I really struggle to understand why they did this. Paul George might retire in two years, how effective can he really be then? This is true and I dont know the reason why Celtics will do this, Remember Tatum is out for a long time with Boston, Brown was the key player of the team. They made it to have it in the play-offs and went short. This is WIN for the 76cers now but we still cant tell unless the whole draft happened. There are 1st and 2nd round picks included for the Boston. I hope this will not another PG trade of OKC before.

It doesn’t make sense considering Brown is the reason why they get their recent championship when Tatum can’t carry the team to finish a championship. Probably, this the result of JB frustration to the failed trade for Giannis using him. Brown probably is the one insisting to get out on Boston now that he knew he is being traded from behind. I don’t the benefit of Boston on this trade aside from the 1st pick on 2028 which is not worth it against a finals MVP. We all knew PG alue is just a thrash.

Paul George might retire in two years, how effective can he really be then? Well I guess they don't have a choice. Brown is already been disappointed that Celtics is willing to trade him in exchange with Giannis https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-celtics/2026/06/30/boston-celtics-jaylen-brown-nba-trade-rumors-basketball-brad-stevens/And this maybe made them decide to trade him, because they know that Brown maybe don't like to play on their team anymore. Brown is so useful on Celtics and he help this team to became a title contender, but it seems that Celtics didn't give good value on his contribution. With this Celtics will provably not the same when Brown is their rotation, do you think Tatum will ask for trade after all this mess happen? I also think they made a bad move for acquiring George, since he's well known injury prone player.

I mean I'm not a GM per se, but to trade your all-star player to a guy that prioritize podcasting more than playing basketball? Trading your main guy last season to a player who's injury-prone? I know that the Celtics are already trading Brown and they've been contacting with other teams if they want to get him, but why get somebody like PG in return? I understand that there are some draft picks out there, but this trade is one of the worst trades that I've seen this off-season - if not the worst. Sixers clearly won this trade if you will be looking at the trade details. I mean the Sixers jumped from being around top 8 only to now top 4 in terms of being favorites to win the East next season and I mean why not? They have the backcourt of Maxey and Edgecombe, Brown, and Embiid, and Wade to fill that 4 spot. Their bench is kind of garbage and for me, that's even worse than the Heat before they made some signings and trades, but the problem is they're over the salary already so trades is the most likely scenario here. Sixers won the trade, but just like what I say with Miami, I don't see them competing against New York just because they have a bad bench right now.

Not every summer has huge moves, some do, some don't. This is one of those where we are hearing big news. Smallest one is Hornets just blowing it all up, and crashing the team, and hoping for the best. But the three big ones is that Giannis is joining Miami, and the other one is Kawhi joining Toronto.
Now the last one, which is going to be very tough, is Lebron leaving Lakers. We know he is leaving, we just don't know where he is going. If he does join Miami, which he has connections there, then they would have Giannis and Lebron together, now that would be a formidable team for sure.

LeBron is not going back to Miami if the rumor is true that he once tried to influence the management to fire Coach Spo. That did not happen, and that is why he came back to Cleveland. So I would not count Miami as a destination for LeBron. If he will leave, the best destination is probably the Warriors since that is the rumor now. If he will be traded for Butler, then the Lakers could get stronger.

This is the story of that.. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25448191-new-warriors-rumors-jimmy-butlers-future-amid-lebron-contract-anthony-davis-trade-buzzDespite recent rumors of the Golden State Warriors making a run at LeBron James and Anthony Davis this offseason, the Dubs reportedly are not convinced it should trade Jimmy Butler in order to do so.
According to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, Butler has a strong relationship with many within the Warriors organization, including general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. and head coach Steve Kerr, causing Golden State to "signal a reluctance" to use him as a trade chip while he continues to recover from a torn ACL suffered in January.
ESPN's Shams Charania (h/t ESPN's Anthony Slater) reported Monday that Draymond Green declining his $27.6 million player option for 2026-27 opened up the flexibility for the Warriors to explore signing James and trading for Davis. That is a lot of players moving, but according to that report, Butler has a good relationship with the Warriors GM, so it is unlikely that he will get traded. I don’t know why the Warriors are pursuing LeBron. I know he is still a star player, but if they plan to win a championship, they need to get a young superstar.

One odd side effect of the Los Angeles Lakers recent signings is that Stephen A Smith will probably not be running for President after all. His comments about the white guys being signed by the Lakers were shockingly racist. While probably true, you can’t say that and expect to be a politician.

The one free throw rule will be tested at the upcoming NBA summer leagues. With this rule, any foul that would typically result in one, two or three free throws under standard NBA rules will instead result in a single free throw attempt. That attempt will be worth the same total number of points as the free throws it replaces. Standard NBA free throw rules will apply during the last two minutes of the fourth quarter and throughout overtime.

By this decision every free throw will get much more valuable than ever. But why don't they want to use these new rules throughout the whole game? I think it would be better to use it full game. I can't imagine how excited the last moments of a competitive game would be then! Changes are good as long as they make sense. Let's see how much FT percentages of players will change as of next season.

It never crossed my mind that this could happen that after Giannis joins the Miami Heat, LeBron might also decide to join them. Why not, though? We've seen something similar before in Miami. Back then, no one expected the Heat to build a superteam with LeBron, Chris Bosh, and later Ray Allen. Maybe history could repeat itself. lol However, based on the rumors I've been reading the Golden State Warriors or the Cleveland Cavaliers seem to be the most likely destinations for LeBron. Wdyt about that?

Same goes for Cleveland. If he was going to join a superteam I think the 76ers would be a good choice, but he won’t for the same reason. It’s going to be Golden State. OP should put up a poll where LeBron will land.

Heat will step into new age if Giannis and Lebron both play for them. LeBron is very old now maybe but still he would contribute quite decently in a different role than we are used to see. But the potential issue is that other players wouldn't be able to play much freely. Because both of these superstars like to play with the ball quite much. I hope teamwork wouldn't be weak there next season.

I wonder what the NBA media would have been like if it were to be some white guy with such a ridiculous comment, I'm sure we'll never hear the last of it... Stephen A, is far from being the one of the sharpest tool in the box when it comes to NBA takes, more often than not I think he just tends to go with the narrative that would drive the most reaction whether or not it crosses every ethical line. Rich Paul is having a great time with his media rounds, just throwing in clues and riddles at every chance he gets, he said Lebron would be fine with being competitive and so far there is indoor and outdoor golf, having people start wonder cities with best golf activities all year round.

I have also just seen the hard to believe trade by Boston Celtics. I just don't get it. Why would they be okay to trade Jaylen Brown for a finished Paul George? Brad Stevens must have lost his mind. He couldn't even play for a half season the last time. In the previous season the number of games he played was even less. If you are ready to give up on a player like Brown then you should go for a much better and healthier shooter.

Kyle Lowry is signing a one day contract with the Toronto Raptors so he can retire in their jersey. He had a great career and got a ring with Kawhi. Not bad.
What do people think about the NBA testing out a new 1 free throw rule? No matter how many shots a person would have taken before 1/2/3, now it is 1 shot that counts as 1/2/3 points. Being tested in the summer league.

It is probably because Brown is no longer happy with the Celtics, as I heard they wanted to trade him for Giannis but that trade failed. So maybe there is no more good relationship with him, and that resulted in them trading him for PG. The Sixers won that trade, but we cannot assume it is a bad trade for Boston unless we see the result. PG is great. Maybe he was just not fit with the Sixers’ system. With his height and ability to shoot anywhere, I’m hoping Boston will be able to develop him more and we will see the old PG again, or maybe even a better PG.

Teams like Boston Celtics have these questionable decisions and trading their good players for some finished off players. Other teams have done this but I think that there's some money into it. Kyle Lowry is signing a one day contract with the Toronto Raptors so he can retire in their jersey. He had a great career and got a ring with Kawhi. Not bad.
Good for him, he'll retire with the team that has got him a ring. That's a nice decision that he'll retire as a Raptors and it's on a perfect timing to announce it when they've got Kawhi.

I also have the same feeling as you when I saw this trade, but I realized just a few hours ago that we don't know whichever team won the trade unless we don't see them playing in their respective tams during the regular season. We are basing our opinions based on their past performances, and there's nothing wrong with it. On the other hand, we've seen players where they're awful on their first team, but when they got traded, they became better on that new team, and one example of it is Deni Avdija. I don't see why Brad Stevens traded for Paul George, but looking at his performance last season, he shot 39% from the three-point area which fits in the current playstyle of the Celtics which is focusing more on threes. Aside from that, I can't see any reason anymore. I just hope that Brad Stevens will not regret this trade that he's made. The Celtics fans are pissed, the analysts are seeing this as a lose for the Celtics team, and even I said that this is a lost trade for them, but let's see if PG will prioritize playing basketball than podcasting. We might see a new version of "Playoff P" rather than a new version of "Podcast P".
