I'm not a fan of nu-metal or most of the mainstream stuff out these days, the only thing good about being older is I was able to see bands like Metallica, Slayer, Testament, Motorhead, Ozzy, and Iron Maiden in the 80s during their heyday - these days I'm listening to a lot more death metal, most of the new bands in thrash and what is passed-off as "metal" I can't get into, mostly due to these bands having growling vocals and then these "clean" vocals where the singer throws-in some emo-tinged crap - stuff like Periphery, Disturbed, and Avenged Sevenfold just make me cringe. That being said, if the music brings you joy, so be it and more power to you as that is what it is all about - I'm an admin on a metal forum and one thing I can't stand are these elitists who slam people for listening to bands they don't like. Here are some of my favorites:
Slayer (older Slayer, mainly- there's some good stuff amongst some not-so good stuff on the later albums) Testament Iron Maiden - the new album is actually pretty good Morbid Angel Deicide Dead Congregation Speedboozer - fans of Motorhead will like this newer band Suicidal Tendencies Misfits - not so much "metal" but an old favorite Death Metallica - After ...And Justice I lost interest and really can't get into their newer stuff Cryptopsy Vital Remains WASP - first two albums were great, Chris Holmes latest stuff is well, interesting...lmao Motorhead
