Moderation there's an awful idea, and it's been badly implemented. The moderation rules say posts about moderation concerns are generally discouraged, and the moderation trial will last 3 months before an unmoderated discussion about it will be permitted. Who decided the people that get moderation power, and why were those individuals selected?

Quote
Moderation will last 3 months.  Then we'll have an unmoderated on-list discussion as to whether it should continue, or change.

How come is it that every time someone breaks a rule, and the other entity acts accordingly they get called out for censorship? What is the matter with you people? Even though I do not support the current moderation policy on the mailing list, it seems like people have started running and screaming "censorship" for whatever random reason. What's also interesting I that I don't recall much of this "censorship" nonsense before the XT popped up.

Ok, it isn't censorship, so we can try to find some other words, I agree  Roll Eyes

"pre-moderation" ?

Than, what do you think about this "pre-moderation"?

What are the reasons of this change?

The "rule" that was broken was actually something that was "discouraged". Also the portion of the message that "broke" the "rule" was only ~1 line of the post and there were several paragraphs of content that clearly does not violate any moderation guidelines.

I was talking about it in general, not in this particular case. I've already stated that I'm not fond of this moderation policy over there.

That's a good question. I haven't had enough time to keep track of the mailing list closely, but I'm assuming that it was going a tad off topic (away from the general idea of the mailing list, i.e. proper discussions).

You know that when moderation occurs, it wouldn't go very well. Roll Eyes Also I think moderation and censorship are two different words in context. I wonder why when someone moderates something, people shouts censorship albeit what happened isn't even close to that.

I wouldn't like the need to moderate anything, people should feel free to comment any views they want on Bitcoin. I don't like the fact that some people, for some bizarre reason find good the idea of centralizing nodes with the Bitcoin XT mess, but they should be free to speak. Of course, the line from free speech to trolling is a fine one.

developping software don't work ... on forum thread, usually.

and developping highly P2P software need somes ... global vision but cosmetics functions to balance the users.

XT is like that (cosmetics functions like MOD of a master branch).
I like that.

Core is the master branch ... well, users can trust a port of the network and power user can use other tool, too.

I can understand the brats on here requiring a firm hand. Over there that smacks of some pretty fucked up thinking.
