I have the feeling that recently a lot of new users are showing up (which is a good thing).

So I did some counting in members and as of this post 126 new accounts registered on the forum today.

Is this much or just the normal amount?

All previous versions of currency will no longer be supported as of this update

It can happen, just be wary of bots Tongue I'm getting members signing up to my forum and I've seen a few spammers trying to sneak through, that said, I find lurkers to be the weirdest bunch of all.

A little above average.

ZeroHedge probably didn't hurt.

Here's a way to see history:

Be wary of using those metrics as criteria for investment.  It almost seems that when there is a rally there is an influx of the "one liners" who register and post.  Even if it was manual (e.g., paid via mechanical turk) it isn't reflective of true interest in Bitcoin and instead just a way to manipulate the market as some do consider things like forum posts and new users in their investment algorithms.
