It's that time of year, past November 5th and all the pretty fireworks and sparklers ( the one holiday that mass commercialism hasn't butchered yet ) and now I am dreading Christmas, in the UK I fear the school rush and I actually take routes I know to avoid the suicidal parents that I have to dodge like rockets are coming at my car at times but Christmas? I've never had to drive during that but I'm already terrified, and then the piss take it is with your family where you have to feel like crap about it all because you're unemployed but be diplomatic and nice about it at the same time. Not to mention all the commercial advertisement going on which you can barely avoid and the horrible christmas music that never changes.

Damn I'm bitter Sad am I the only one who just enjoys having a christmas tree in the living room with pretty lights?

Sorry, I love it.  I love shopping for other people, giving them gifts, receiving gifts.  I don't care that it's "commercialized", that's part of what makes it fun IMO.  I do not like the traffic though, I'll agree with you on that one!  And the Christmas music does get old, which is why I try not to listen to it until we're at least a part of the way through December.

It seems to start earlier every year.

I bet before I'm old stores will be putting up their Christmas displays mid September.

I can relate. I love Christmas for what it means, but it's waayyyyy over comercialized and makes me depressed.
I attempt to lock myself in the bedroom, listen to metal, and find other stuff to do.

It's not that bad, you can always make some symbolic present yourself and just spend some time with your family. The only positive thing about Winter is Christmas and Snow  Grin

Edit: True it's "over comercialized" but still...

Spend time with my family?! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

And I'm sure some snow would be welcome to all those Aussies and Kiwis that are sweating it out in 100 degree heat on Christmas day Cheesy

I do enjoy the lights on the high street and the mulled wine (maybe just a winter thing but I attribute it to Christmas) but generally everything else is a real PITA: "holiday" coffees, the same songs over and over, mobbed shops, etc.

I'd prefer if it was a little later in the year, like the end of January.  It feels like winter's barely started by December these days, it would be much nicer to have all the lights up and good will etc in the middle of the winter when people are starting to pick up SAD.

As Discordian I don't celebrate Christmas.  Grin

The basic, Getting together with your closest and celebrating is nice, though.

The rest is absolute annoying. Everything blinks and shines, this creepy music is everywhere. Commercials are giving their best at being manipulative, they are all like gift something expensive or you are a bad person.

Also I can't hear radio in this time, I really hat "Last Christmas".

What I really like are the Christmas markets, I don't know if you have that in USA. They are great.

As every year i will spend two days of my holiday volunteering and selling stuff at our local UNICEF stand (I like this more than just giving money).

I don't celebrate Christmas neither any other religious holiday. I hate them all, I hate those rush hours in the market-places and I'm also not planning to put a Christmas tree in my home... It's just as stupid as the christianity is!

For some reason, I read this as "Getting together with your closet and celebrating".

I think I wouldn't mind hiding a closet at Christmas, seems like the best option for me right now since I don't have my own place to hide in.

Really? I really don't celebrate Christmas. Including no tree. I also never give Christmas presents. It is strange at first for people know you for the first Christmas, but if you stay strict you have to deal with it only one time.
