Just wondering...who here has opened an account and how has your experience been?

Have you made any trades?

Edit: Made a poll too just to see if anyone wants to say what exchange they use...vote!

Kraken is what I use the most as it is easy and quick for me to deposit EUR to fund my account. They also have great support which makes it even better.

Interesting thanks.

I'm doubting anyone will be voting for Gemini...haha

I think Gemini are more focused on institutional investors. They could use private traders to get the ball rolling and build up the initial volume. But from what I've read, their fees are much higher than on other exchanges, so I don't see why any private trader would choose Gemini over cheaper exchanges (arbitrage trading could be a reason though).

I would also be interested in seeing some feedback, if anyone trades there.

It does not matter much how many accounts are there - the point of gemini is that the few accounts are supposed to trade in big volumes. So far this did not happen - but the volume there is growing: http://data.bitcoinity.org/markets/volume/30d?c=c&exchange=gemini&t=bar

Not looked at Gemini and if it is just for the US only then it's not for me.

Yup, looks like it's for US only and not even for all the states:

Quote
AVAILABLE STATES

Gemini is available and open for trading in the following states:

California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington D.C., Wyoming.

Update October 7, 2015: Illinois is now available.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PENDING STATES

Gemini is working with regulators to become operational in the following states as soon as possible (and we will update this list accordingly):

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin.

Likely they will expand to other countries (at least EU). Bit shame EU clients are not accepted from the start, I don't think there are any serious regulatory obstacles preventing it.

Voted for others and then saw that it has the most votes. What does it says about the other exchanges on the list? I usually find traders on LBC, that is how I got in touch with my current trader and deal in cash with him. I am not at all ok with providing these exchanges my IDs and stuff.

I wish I could try out Gemini, but since I'm living in the Netherlands in unable to open an account at the moment.

Please add kraken to the list. It is a very good exchange with decent volume.

I wouldn't mind giving Gemini a whirl but I'm in the other 99% of the world that it doesn't service. Until it's accessible from everywhere then they won't be the Nasdaq of Bitcoin.

Using a local exchange since others are US-only exchanges. I want to try finex or Gemini but it is impossible given my location. Also, the service I'm using right now offers a premium membership which I am nearing on getting.

That's likely why 'other' is notably over-voted answer.

Kraken are generally underrated imo, they are probably the best exchange in terms of customer service and the way they run the business. They never 'got hacked' or pulled any other weird stunts, also they earned a lot of trust for acting as advisors in sorting out Mt. gox mess.
