Can I see a pic or model number? I've "converted" a high profile NIC to low profile by snipping of the end of the bracket and bending it. Depends on how big the card is.

the PCB is a hair short of being as wide as a business card (almost 3.5 inches)

It was expensive when I bought it but I know it's not worth shit:
