Signed message= proving your identity by signing a message with the private key of a bitcoin address which you have staked in : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996318.0 and for being sure that hacker hasn't edited your posted address to his someone has to quote it, so even if hacker manages to edit your staked address to his, the quote will determine if the address has been unchanged or not. Signed messages should usually be from addresses staked more than 3 months ago.

The signed message is nothing other than a normal text message you sign with one of your private keys in your bitcoin wallet. Once you have signed a message you post it in this thread where the post will be quoted by another member and by doing so essentially lock it in for future proof that you are the owner of that particular address and account. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996318.0See this thread for what to do when you lose control of your account and how a signed message helps: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0

FYI, i heard theymos rarely recover hacked account. I asked theymos to recover my hacked account, but it never happen Have you staked your account in stake my account thread? So he refused to recover your account even though your account was staked? What's the purpose of staking our accounts if they won't be recovered. Of course I assume that you have staked it, your account.

Signed messages are handy in recovering accounts especially if you staked your address in meta. If you could sign a message using that address, it means that ypu have full control over that address in which you tagged your account with.

When you say hacked it seems like 2 people chances are claim they own it. They would need to prove it's not been sold which could be hard since sadly accounts are sold. But if locked out and 1 person claiming account it might not be quick. But I with a staked address it will make it much quicker/easier to prove it's yours.

Signed message can help you prove someone that you own bitcoin address. Most wallets that are popular have the option to provide a sign message for your bitcoin address, you just have to use that option.

Staking your address allows you to prove your identity in case something happens in the future. Even so, I don't find it too practical. Many account was compromised due to malware attacks. In those attacks, most can just steal the private key and you can't prove the account that way without the suspicion of the signer being the attacker. I would recommend using a more secure wallet instead, preferably from another computer or a cold storage.
