Seven years ago today, Satoshi Nakamoto released his famous whitepaper to the world, inviting users on the leading cryptography mailing list to work on it, officially marking the start of Bitcoin's existence. I still think, every newbie must read the whitepaper at least once...

I know of a dude  Wink who laboriously penned Satoshi Nakamoto's white paper on Twitter for easy readability in exactly 256 tweets (think SHA-256): https://twitter.com/FirstWhitePaper

The dude told me to pass it on that anybody who follows said account would be followed in kind.

Another nice date to remember... And to think about how would the world be without Bitcoin!

Well the little baby has been registered to 1st class Smiley.
7 years are really long but it seems that it is too little in the technology.
I see myself that i joined late bitcoin but still good, hope bitcoin will be implemented almost everywhere.

...

Was bitcoin really launched on October 31?, someone could dress a bitcoin costume and celebrate two festivities at once Grin.

Yes, I just re-read Satoshi's Bitcoin white paper announcement, the fact it was announced on Halloween had escaped me until now. Now I'll never forget the exact date Bitcoin was announced. He must have deliberately chosen a memorable day that half the world parties on.

Ok, here is an alternative link to read the Bitcoin White Paper, you can also earn a few satoshis while reading (no, it has no referral link inside. Adblock highly recommended since their ads tend to get annoying).

That is an interesting website, getting paid to read.

I hope bitcoin/blockchain technology will last for hundreds of years from now.

Happy birthday to Bitcoin. Seven years from the white paper, but anyone knows which day was mined the genesis block? And if anyone knows how many bitcoins were mined till today?

The official copy (and the original place it was posted) is on the bitcoin.org website --> https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf
Here is a copy of the original email the Satoshi sent to Cypherpunks with the white paper --> https://www.mail-archive.com/cryptography%40metzdowd.com/msg09959.html

It looks like he sent it on November 1st, so you are a day off. But timezones can mess with that so in some places it might have been the 31st and in others the 2nd.

This is happy birthday to Bitcoin white paper or an announcement that Bitcoin will be launched actually and not the real Bitcoin birthday. Real birthday is a day of the launch or when the Genesis block was mined, which is 3rd of January 2009 like people have already said above.

Still this day needs to be remembered as a day when the world has seen first plans of Bitcoin!

It is amazing that 7 years ago Satoshi made Bitcoin. And still, no one has been able to make a better cryptocurrency than him. I couldn't imagine the world without bitcoin. I have used bitcoin a lot and it really helps with day to day life. It's great too see it come this far, for the amount of time and the price it has gotten too.

I'm not sure if I agree that a better cryptocurrency hasn't been made. Bitcoin has a lot of flaws, and there are a lot of altcoins out there with fixes to the inherent flaws of Bitcoin. However, the community surrounding Bitcoin has made it impossible for any alternative to take the throne, and I imagine nothing will be able to surpass Bitcoin until the community agrees to back this alternative.
