HI, Im new user to the bitcoin platform. Just bought my first 20$ in bitcoins through a trade on localbitcoins.com. Since I had to show my ID and register a real name to qualify for the particular trade, I wanted to use a separate service that didnt have any particular connection to my name. So I downloaded the electrum client to make my internet purchases. (ver 2.5.2) .

I followed the newcomer guide, I copied and pasted the receiving address from electrum and pasted in to the "send" to adress bar on localbitcoins. I specified the amount and clicked "send." My bitcoins were deducted successfully but on the other end my electrum wallet is still showing a zero balance, with no pending transaction or any indication that a transfer was in progress. Its already been few hours the guide said the average was around 10 minutes. Is there any way to troubleshoot this issue? anyway to get the coins back on either end? Is the money forever lost in cyber space?

It looks like there is a problem with localbitcoins. This is exclusively their services problem, not Electrum's and not Bitcoin's. The money is safe, it will either remain with lbc or it will reach your wallet. You just need to wait for them to fix their problems

I just tested a send and I got the following message:
Quote
Outgoing transactions are currently not working due to hardware problems. In case you initiate a transaction, it will stay in pending status until the problem is fixed. After the problem with outgoing transactions have been fixed, your transaction will be broadcasted to the network.
So you probably have been affected by the same thing. Just wait and hope that they fix the issues. You can also try to contact their support.

Thanks, that helps alot. I'm new so when something dosent work I instantly panic.  I'll just give it a few days then.

EDIT: I checked and the coins came through just  a short while ago. Thanks for the guidance. Your were right. It was just a matter of belated delivery time On the senders side about (3~4 hrs). electrum is working just fine . I got my confidence is back.
