Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Question is who is selling? and since we have seen a continued climb of exchange rate of BTC-USD does that mean who ever is selling keeps on dumping Bitcoins? That's a lot of Bitcoins to dump

Well that could work IF you have a very huge amount of BTC and fiat to spend in manipulating the market.
