Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

I don't see why they would now instead of at $1100 or $600. It could be, I would be a group attempting to manipulate the price and make a killing of pumping the price up and dump their coins on people.  This plan works great until your dump.. fails to dump.. the price jumps past your sell point and you're standing there watching the market on the side lines.

I for see more bigger dumps attempting incoming very shortly.

Definitely. Many people will try to dump, and maybe even a few will be successful, and bring BTC to the thousands. Let's hope no one causes bitcoin to go down.

Let's just hope.

I thought someone did this. With a gross tumble in a matter of minutes, that does draw concern of what happened all the sudden with a steady incline in the last week and a half of trading.
I just lost some major money in a matter of moments  Angry

Price of $420 back down to $378.
now getting back in form to $395 now. People are buying up now so should be back on track to get the train back on the tracks.

I don't see any good reason they would dump that much BTC at once, to be honest...it doesn't make sense. They must have lost a fair chunk of change doing that, and I'm not entirely sure what they were trying to accomplish if they were either trying to cash out or genuinely bring the price down.

A) Buy up more BTC buy hitting stop losses

B) Pump and dump,  buy at 220, pump up, sell,  It's happened a few times but this time.. it blew pas the $300 range.

I am thinking it's more of A, the manipulator owns this market.. :S.

Hmm? In a market like this (a bubble market atm I believe) I don't think selling a lot of BTC which is quickly bought up is the best tactic for that. Smiley

Perhaps, but I don't think Bitcoin is THAT open to manipulation by pump 'n' dump.

Maybe someone placed a MASSIVE S7 order when batch 4 opened up.  There's this thing called the Bitcoin economy that has a little bit to do with the price outside of just speculators and manipulators.

Some one probably wanted to trigger a lot panic sellers and stop loss orders. It's back to over $400 again. Whoever it was, he or she or they, have a lot of wealth. Let's see what will happen the comming days. I hope for a stable period.
