Futuristic vision of a web of decentralised computer system based on the blockchain technology.
This is a simple, funny and inaccurate representation of what a Network of Blockchain can potentially looks like in a reasonable future

A little bit of imagination is needed here:

Yep, it looks pretty cool and great but what is to stop... incriminating content from appearing on everyone's computer?

Also, would it be easier for viruses to get into people's computer?

this can truly be a decentralized internet, that we all have dream of, but ISP are still there not making this 100% true

there must be a way to get rid of those too , besides the governement

Just like Tor but with more people and information is stored in every computer? It will never work out. Bitcoin chain is already about 50 gb. A full network will get 1 pb in a few year and no one have that much money to spend.

At the moment storage and bandwidth are both not good enough to decentralise everything. Maybe it will be in 10 years' time?

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't this concept a lot like freenet? It is currently running still and I don't know if it needs a replacement.

with the way Moore's law works 10 years is very very pessimist...and look at project like storjx, swarm(ethereum) or even Maidsafe, storage and bandwidth can and will be decentralise as well

Dont understand the video but I can guess what you are trying to say. Everyone country/planet grow and connect each other in a decentralized way. Well, it could happen but not so soon. Maybe not in our lifetime. It will require a lot of work to be put in and lot of storage needed.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

Even if you do get rid of local ISP's the government will still have control over the fiber and satellite networks. The monitoring and control will just shift and more government employees would have to be employed to do the ISP's work. This will put a bigger burden on the TAX payer and the users will suffer.

We will just have to accept that governments will always try to control communication and interception can occur on different levels, even before this traffic reach ISP's.  Roll Eyes

Why would you even want all this information on your own computer? There will be several places that host the full chains, but is unrealistic for every user to hold the full chains. Most people will run light clients anyway.

Some form of centralization will always exist, even in 10 years. The amount of data grows faster than individual storage space grows.

According to the current trend it does seem a faraway dream but with more awareness and users getting on the bitcoin wagon this might be just the thing that is needed. let us hope bigger companies realize this potential and find the time and resources to invest in this project.

Harddisk and internet technology keeps evolved over time, so i think it still can catch with bitcoin blockchain size.
If every block size is 1MB, it'll add 52560MB or 51.32GB in a year, so it won't reach 1PB in few years.

With the development of side chains and other centralized payment processor, the block size does not have to be too big. 2MB is enough for the next two years.

I am not a programmer and nor a developer. So i am not able to discuss specifically and technically about the matter treated in this thread. But I know the essence of peer to peer technology and understand well the real advantages that this disruptive technology brings. For sure the change and the new build of the structure of the internet is the first field of application of this technology. Giving essential changes to the previous one of the internet and big cut of costs for every kind of its users.

Side chain? Trust me, no one likes it. You must pay to use side chain & it's centralized. More info : http://www.coindesk.com/blockstream-commercial-sidechain-bitcoin-exchanges/
Also, centralized payment processor won't help reduce blockchain size growth too much.

You have to pay to use any blockchain. So you got that wrong.

And sidechains are no more centralised than Bitcoin itself; Core developers designed the side-chains interface & protocol, but the actual side-chains will be created and run independently, just like miners on the main chain.

So it's probably better if you know what the details are before you start talking about it. People might get an inaccurate perception of the facts, and no-one wants that.

i dont know if that is the big solution but Google , FB, SpaceX are launching internet services in the next years. that is good if you ask me.
