So, just out of curiosity, why does the value of Bitcoin drop over weekends?

My guess is that it is harder to get new funds into Mt Gox on weekends (speaking from experience of one method I use).

The collapse was canceled due to lack of interest.  Tongue

Because the cash flow MtGox<->USD slows (apparently some banks don't send money over weekends).

Wth? Everywhere I look today people saying this. On what other planet is a >20% increase a drop? Close of bizness Friday price was under $14.

Please go all out arbing this trend smarties.

I sure as hell hope not. He can say whatever he pleases about the market.

The dip starts when buyers run low on money on the exchange, it does not start as soon as the banks close for the weekend. Because there have been dips on most weekends people save back some money to try to buy cheaper thereby making the dip come later.

I expect it each weekend but I have not been able to predict at what point in the weekend it will happen so I don't try to make money off it.

I more or less agree that he can say whatever he wants (yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre is not the same as the crass manipulation he is attempting).

I just hope that everyone realizes what a jerk he is, and prepares for all the manipulation attempts from every direction that will be coming our way as everyone from script kiddies to banksters try to take this game-changing technology down. Stay calm, make rational decisions.
