My vote is Windows 7. I choose this because i like modding my OS so i have it how i want to use it. And in order to get it how i like it i would have to a lot more work with Windows 8/10.
Having to research and disable newer service etc is not fun. And i can't stand the newer Metro style crap.. it's ugly (i think)
Microsoft is so dumb they originally started using the word Metro.. until Metro A.G. a German company sued them for Trade Mark infringement LOL So they started calling it "Modern" Funny thing is comparing the first versions of windows they look the same. There is nothing modern about it..
The "start screen" is crap and i don't want "App's" on my desktop.. i have an Android phone for that. It would be more crap i have to disable..
I like my Start Menu and my XP style Quick launch menu i recreated and setup custom. i use equally the shortcuts pinned to the taskbar Explorer icon and then the QuickLaunch and StartMenu (all heavily custom) I want it how i made it to work and i don't need MS trying to stop me.
Which is what they did with newer versions of windows.. no thanks. I know best how i want my computer to function.
If others like Win 8/10 etc fine.. the newer ones just don't suit my needs / requirements. to each their own.. options are appreciated though.
If the next version of Windows has Aero transparency and 3d style windows / icons i will consider it maybe.

8 For now, even if it's giving me a bunch of issues, until I find the courage to change OS into linux, I'll stick with this.

XP 64. Released 2 years after the more common 32-bit XP and based on the Windows Server 2003 kernel, it's the best OS Microsoft ever released. Everything that came after was a downgrade in some way. My install is 6 years old and still as stable and responsive as on the first day I installed it. I don't have any antivirus crap installed and have never been "infected" by anything. About Microsoft's "security updates" which are no longer released for XP, good luck to you if you think you're "safer" because of that shit.

ya XP and XP-x64 are good.. i'd rather use one of those than win8 or win10 ahhaha and no win9 ? WTF ? prob dodging the Win 9x jokes LOL
EDIT: sad really.. there would have been no backlash basically if MS just gave us some options. I would have been happy if i could toggle with options the following.
- Old start Menu / Taskbar - Old Windows w/ Transparency - Old 3D icons
They were already coded and made.. all they had to do is integrate them and give us the options. then both camps would have been happy !
Instead they made drastic changes and forced them on us.

You nailed it, especially the interface aspect. XP's classic menu + GUI is better in every way. Win 7 is bearable after you spend a few days making it look like XP and disabling the all the bloat, but you'll still need to resort to something like ClassicShell to enjoy things like the classic start menu. The search function on 7 is terrible though. I recently found out this amazing file explorer which looks like XP's explorer but with a lot of other useful options like tabs: http://www.cubicreality.com/ce/Now about the 8th Abomination and the 10th Plague... I can only pity the poor morons I mean users of those pieces of shit.

thanks for sharing.. the more options the better. especially from MS ! we don't need them stripping out more and more options over time. it's an OS.. we like to customize them for our needs/wants.. so let us do it MS ! don't go out of your way to make it hard for us.
the minority (PC nerds) can effectively kill an OS on launch. you would think they would learn to keep us advanced users happy.. after all we put the OS on everyone's hard drives for them LOL

Windows 10. Yes, Windows 7 and Windows 8 are good, but time has changed technology, and new GUI's would need to be updated to keep with the current trend. Windows 10 has basically the components of Windows 7, with a lot of bloatware.

I love Windows 7, i am using it on every computer i have. I heard and i have read many bad things about Windows 8 and Windows 10 and i won't upgrade my Windows 7 to those versions. Mainly because i have a few older computers so a newer version will affect the performance on my pc.

I am enjoying Windows 10 but there are still some issues that need sorting out so windows 7 is still the best.

I simply cannot tolerate the "metro" look on Win 8/10, maybe it's just OCD but I don't like the change, so I'll be sticking with Win7 till they stop supporting it like they did on XP

For me it is in this order Win 10 > 8.1 > 8 > Vista > 7 > XP > 98 SE > 98 > 95 I really liked Vista. 7 didn't feel as beautiful to me. But I always upgrade to the latest and when 7 came out I promptly upgraded to 7 from Vista. Currently I'm on 10 Pro.

Vista was widely regarded as a failure, so him putting it before 7 is a surprise.

In other words, he loved every piece of crap Micro$oft shoved down his throat after Win 7. He must be feeling he's "on the edge of technology" for being on "10 Pro". My suggestion: abandon this techboy2 account and create a new one with a username like DumbMSFanboi or CluelessSheep.
