I am scouring the web for places to spend.  Spending shouldnt really affect your holding too much.  Just buy BTC and spend it as needed separate from your hodl stash.

Just sit aside a small percentage of your coins to spend and hodl the rest. Once the price goes up to the moon, you would have doubled or tripled your buying power and you would be able to afford more things.

I cant agree more. If we want to make Bitcoin go mainstream, we must spend damn coins. If everyone just hold and noone spend, we will have less and less merchants and companies accept Bitcoin as payment method.

To be accepted and adapted as currency bitcoin price must be less volatile. People fear to hold or even buy bitcoin right now (not for traders) who want to buy something online with bitcoin due to this ongoing price fluctuations.

Talking about me i am using bitcoin only to topup my mobile balance as there is no other option to cashout bitcoin here in my country. Although i am collecting bitcoin in a hope of better future of it in my country.

I think spending will definitely help to encourage the economy of bitcoin. However, most people think bitcoin is an investment so HODL is what they do.

Spending doesn't kill the coin, it increases merchant adoption, therefore increasing the utility of Bitcoin.

Sure, the merchant will convert to fiat and add sell pressure that way, but you can just buy back your Bitcoin and it would be like you only spend fiat.

Now you neutralized the sell of the merchant with your own buy, but you also added Bitcoin transactions to the merchants revenue, and the merchant made less fiat revenue. If enough holders use this tactic for their everyday purchases the merchants will notice Bitcoin is a serious payment option and they will be more inclined to accept Bitcoin and maybe even hold a little bit. Without undermining your own hold position.

I agree. From my own experience i have seen that spending a minor amount seems sensible to keep the flow rolling smooth with transactions. We should still hold a bulk part of our Bitcoins to cash in on the peak of the bull run.

This is a problem with deflationary economy- people know the value of their holding will increase, so they are reluctant to spend and wait for the value to increase.

The greatest thing to do is to hodl.  Why? Because the price will go up.

When the time comes that there aren't enough satoshi's to go around, the Bitcoin core programming can be easily adjusted to divide satoshi's into as small of a unit as necessary.

Hodl the heck out of Bitcoin, and grow fantastically rich doing so!



EDIT: Stop calling it Bitcoin, and start calling it SatoshiCoin, so that people get used to the idea of the satoshi as the main coin. This way we the bitcoin hodlers will gain more value, and SatoshiCoin will spread around the world greater than ever.

NOTE: At some time the divisions of a satoshi will need to be named. Perhaps we should call a 0.00000001 satoshi (a satoshi divided into 100,000,000 parts), a nakamoto.

NO!!

This is absolutely the worst option for BTC. What happens if we all hold? How are we going to increase crypto acceptance and general crypto presence? Hamster mentality brings nothing, cause even if you hold and everybody else holds, BTC loses value and you get nothing.

I would not only say spend, I d say INVEST! Differentiate your BTC into several potentially profitable ventures.

I personally pile up a bit of bitcoin and then spend it some where or transfer it to my bank and I never let it sit just on my wallet in order the flow continues which I think is needed as is always better to let the flow go rather than stop it and wish for a miracle to happen
