There is no such thing as a boring day in the world of Bitcoin and blockchain technology. Earlier today, news broke about famous hip hop artist Talib Kweli selling his music in exchange for Bitcoin, a  popular digital currency. Thanks to the partnership between Talib Kweli and ZapChain, interesting things are on the horizon for the Bitcoin community. But that is not all, as the ZapChain community platform announced a partnership with Coinbase as well.

Another positive for bitcoin, lets hope other artists follow in his footsteps.

One important thing the article highlights which I think is very important especially for new/startup bands is the fact that they get paid much faster if they make use of bitcoin. No need to wait weeks and or months to get the proceeds from their sales. This can be vital especially for new bands where the time it takes to get paid can mean the difference between making it or not.

It only makes sense for artists to explore the option of selling their content for Bitcoin. Unlike traditional payment methods, it won’t take weeks – or even months – to get paid, whereas Bitcoin payments are credited to an artist’s account instantaneously. ZapChain is a perfect platform to facilitate the sale of digital goods.

50 Cent and 2 Chainz did similar things before. Murs has a song about Bitcoin. Rap business is really into Bitcoin these days. Turkish board moderator EAL is another active MC in both Bitcoin and Rap music world.

Musical artists accepting/promoting cryptocurrnecy is great and everything, but I've yet to hear one significant music star who accepts the 21st century reality that they can't run a viable business selling individual copies of tracks, without totalitarian government. Someone's got to do this eventually, otherwise we're going to end up with "nothing to hide" phone/laptop searches as a matter of routine. It happens at airports already, do we really want that culture seeping into other parts of daily life?

Say "no" to the selling copies model. Just say no.
