hey guys
so i just started using bitcoins today and since i needed them rather urgently I hastily bought them and transferred them to my wallet before actually setting up my wallet.The client is downloading the block chain but its taking painfully long...3 hours and counting.i was just wondering if I downloaded the blockchain and placed it in my local folder without touching the wallet.dat file, will i still get the bitcoins i transferred earlier?
If you choose to continue with the wallet program on your computer instead of using the hosted service at blockchain.info, the answer is yes. If you shutdown bitcoin-qt and replace the blockchain file with one you download from a reliable trustworthy source, and are careful not to damage or delete the wallet.dat file, then the bitcoins you transferred earlier should still show up.
