Woman who won $8.5m jackpot at casino is denied her winnings because managers claim the slot machine 'malfunctioned' Veronica Castillo was playing on the slot machines She believed she had won the jackpot on the machine called Jurassic Riches Casino staff believed otherwise and say the machine's display was wrong For five minutes, she was a multi-millionaire! Veronica Castillo, from Portland, Oregon thought she had struck it lucky after hitting an $8 million jackpot. The loan officer was playing alongside her mother on the slots at Lucky Eagle Casino in Rochester, Washington last weekend, when she put $100 in the machine and spun the digital wheels. The machine declared her to be a winner but all she ended up getting was a measly $80 after staff at the casino say the winning payout was in fact an error. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3308606/Woman-won-8-million-jackpot-casino-denied-winnings-staff-claim-slot-machine-malfunctioned-display-wrong.htmlPress release. http://www.luckyeagle.com/press-releases/

They have to be joking right? They could basically say this for every winning that ever happens next. This will give them trouble for sure. They should have at least given her a bigger amount regardless of error or no error. They are there to ensure that their machines function properly when they're being used by customers.

I remember many years ago when I was a kid, I was at a fair with my family, and I got some money to spend on the side stalls. I went to the game of hoopla where you throw wooden rings over a block with the prize on it.
Out of three rings my last one landed on a nice watch, and the wooden ring was flat over the block (winner) The stall owner said you cannot have that, here have this pencil set.
I want the watch I won I said, fuck off kid he said, so off to my mother I went. She stood next to the vendors stand telling every one that he was a thief and not to play the hoopla, for about thirty minutes or so (people turning away) he was not making any money.
He the vendor called me over, and gave me the watch. I guess he the (gypo) was embarrassed over it.
So if this woman can sue succesfully, and embarrass the Casino, I think she has a great chance of getting the winnings that is due to her.

This is sad. Online casinos can be "provably fair". Unfortunately, this casino risks being labelled a cheat. It is going to be very bad publicity for him.

They should give her either all of the money the machine said she won or a large sum of money to make up for the error.

Completely ridiculous.
As the public, are we simply supposed to "accept" that there was a malfunction? Where is the proof, how will they even show or explain to us? Casinos should have insurance against this type of thing (if they don't already) and pay out the winners.

Well said! The name of this casino should be well publicized so that no one else will go play there!

If it was a man that won I'm sure the casino wouldn't have said it was a malfunction. Got a feeling the casino might have a big fire soon.

They say that seeing is believing but it's cases like that that make me doubt the fairness of real world casinos. There's no way this could have happened in a provably fair casino as the gambler would be able to prove his bet.
If bitcoin is very good for one then that thing is gambling. I have friends that gamble on occasion and after introducing them to bitcoin games they were amazed. The divisibility, ability to play several times in a second, provable fairness, extra low house edge are just amazing.
