It's notable, but he/she/they have no chance of winning because it is still new. Whether or not Bitcoin has actually changed anything has yet to be seen.

Hi!

The problem for propose or give the Nobel Prize to the creator of Bitcoin, first we need to know who is Satoshi Nakamoto.

Bitcoin still in a early stage of his development,  Its easy to say i think satoshi deserve the price, but will be difficult to prove why he deserve it

Satoshi Nakamoto can be a organization and in this case the rules of the price are aren't valid for them.

I know aswell Nobel Prize are now more political stuff rather than discoveries.

I will not agree to give to Satoshi, also i will not give to 60% of the people are nominated

As mentioned, as far as I know, the identity of Satoshi should be known before he is allowed to even receive the prize.

And I think we all know by now that he is never going to reveal himself, unless he has some obscure endgame Wink

Well, Barack Obama got his Nobel Prize BEFORE he actually do anything, right after he became president.
If Nobel Committee can award someone like Obama (without any reason whatsoever) then Satoshi is far more suitable to receive Nobel Prize imo.

Different organization, different prize, different criteria.

without googling it..

name me who won the nobel prize in the years:
1995
1987
1960
1955

yes i picked random years..
the reason is although people think the nobel prize is a badge of honour.. but in reality.. no one can really recall many names..

i think that satoshi's genesis block is something that will last forever and be satoshi's badge of honour.. just having bitcoin is a bigger prize, that will last
far longer then nobel, and will be something anyone can look at.

for instance..
when i say Obama.. is your first though 'oh its that nobel prize winner guy' or 'oh its the president'
if i said mother teresa, is she known for her humanitarian work. or that silly medal from nobel
martin luther king, known for winning a medal.. or for his work to give blacks' equal rights

in short no one cares much about the prize, but do care about their actions/job title.

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

That's a good point, although Obama's Nobel was an incentive to do a better job for world peace than it's predecessors, he failed miserably, Satoshi already done something that can have a big impact in economy, now we need to wait if this potential will translate in real positive change for the world economy.

I think it's great that at least some people involved with prize have recognised the true innovation that comes not only from within the strictly academic circles. Kudos to them.

Being nominated for the Nobel Prize is already an honor and tribute to Bitcoin's creator Satoshi Nakamoto. Surely he/she or they deserved to win the prize. Many believe that the Nobel Prize nomination is unlikely to tempt the Bitcoin's creator to reveal himself.

Disagree, he invented bitcoin, he solved bizantine problem which haven't been solved for hundreds of years.
This should guarantee him nobel prize.

I don't know how they could hand out a nobel prize to an unknown person.

indeed. It's an obvious trap to induce him to de-anonymize himself.
obvious trap is obvious.

+1 because bitcoin is anonymous so the creator of bitcoin.
explicitly we won't ever know who he exactly is.

out of ability to use the signature, i want a new ban strike policy that will fade the strike after 90~120 days of the ban and not to be traced back, like google | email me for anything urgent, message will possibly not be instantly responded
i am not really active for some reason

The Nobel Memorial Prize for an unknown person? Even we don't know whether satoshi is his real name or not.

And what if some one who's elite (but not the actual bitcoin creator) comes forward and saying that " I'm the satoshi nakamoto, and this prize should belongs to me"?

May be the prize should be in a museum in the name of "unknown".

Bitcoin is not anonymous, it's pseudo anonymous at best. We need a lot of work to do before we can call it proper p2p cash. Let's hope that Bitcoin is way more anonymous by default before it goes mainstream.

Maybe this is the case yes.But I wouldn't worry too much.Satoshi will never give up his anonymity. He knows very well about that risk. And even if it would happen nothing would change as he does not own the system. The genie is out of the bottle.
