Hello,

I downloaded the bitcoin wallet from bitcoin.org and it gave me an address. I cant find any wallet.dat information on my computer im using OSX. I went to Library>Application Support and found no bitcoin file.

What is the deal here? I need to find the data for my bitcoin wallet.

Maybe a Mac User can provide more insight.  You have launched the bitcoin app (it doesn't create data files until startup) and closed it before checking for files right?
Does Mac OS have a file system search function?  the file will be named "wallet.dat".  You may want to put [OS X] in the title of your question.

Just use 'File->Backup wallet' and save to a USB stick.
The latest clients do not require you to go rooting around in the guts of your system.
(I'm assuming this works on mac as well as windows)

I have no folder named "Bitcoin" in Application support,

I'm an idiot but I am a Mac user and being new to BTC I ran into this problem as well after buying a new MBP this past weekend.

First, are you looking in your user folder and not the system Library folder?   <Your User Account/Login>/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/

Which OS version are you using because I learned that by default Lion and Mountain Lion hide the user Library folder.

If you're using 10.7 or up, check this out and then try to find your Bitcoin directory.

Hope this helps if it is in fact the snag you're facing.

Cheers!

/Users/{yourUserID}/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/wallet.dat

Note: Library *may* be a hidden directory, you might not find it by browsing in the "Finder", but if you choose "Go to Folder" in the "Go" menu in the Finder, you can enter the path to bring up the contents.
