最新的文件显示，日本经济产业省(METI，Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry) 一直在讨论区块链技术对于国内金融业的潜在影响。

根据日本经济产业省10月16日互联网金融研究小组会议记录，政府机构已经意识到，美国已经把区块链技术和分布式账本视为金融技术的一部分，并且引起了很广泛的兴趣。

日本经济产业省最新的会议纪要显示，与会者普遍认为，区块链技术有可能会对“整个金融行业产生影响”：

    “区块链的影响是巨大的。它的重要程度类似于互联网和谷歌的出现。”

该文件还指出，在会议上建议区块链技术可以为经融机构显著降低成本。

尽管如此，会议上经济产业省围绕着技术进行多方的沟通，与会者在会议中还讨论了该系统的潜在安全问题。

    “例如，与会者担忧比特币交易中存在信誉和洗钱的问题。”

虽然参会者的名单并没有显示在日本经济产业省的网站上，参与10月16日会议人中包括来自对区块链技术感兴趣的主要金融机构代表。

其中包括埃森哲、德勤、瑞穗金融集团和野村综合研究所。有一名来自日本银行，即该国央行的成员也出席了这次会议。
