One thing that I want to know more about: one can speculate on Bitcoin, simply buy buying Bitcoin. Are there any ways to speculate on the future of the blockchain? I know there are some startups, like R3CEV, but I don't know that any of them are publicly traded. Can't buy stock in them. How else could one make a speculative play on blockchain tech?
Cryptostocks might offer you the opportunity to invest in a blockchain startup. I only know the name and don't know much about it, but it looks hopeful.

Some of the exchanges might also let little guys invest money into them. I know of various tiny exchanges that wanted investors, but they were all hacked and closed. I would stick to investing in the bigger exchanges that can survive a hack if you want to invest into them.
