Ive got a wallet with 0.7 BTC in it, I've lost my seed and cant remember my password - would it be possible to sell this to a whizz kid who could get access to the BTC or is it a lost cause

not sure it's worth it for that amount. keep guessing passwords.

Without more information there's no way to know this is legit or how difficult it would be to recover the password if possible at all. your best chance would be to post more information and ask who can help by offering a reward. don't try to sell the wallet, it even seems fishy.

If you have a vague idea of what the password may be and you know how to set up a Ruby script and a daemon, you could probably use a script to try and crack the password.

If not you could probably get someone in Technical Discussion or Services to do it for you for a fee, though as previously mentioned it does sound rather suspicious you trying to sell an encrypted wallet with no way in.

i doubt anyone will be able to recover your password, brute forcing the pass would be extremely hard and im not sure what the encryption is.

Electrum or Multibit? Do you remember at least part of your password?  PM me and we can arrange something.
