Hi everyone,

I'm Gary Le, co-founder of Moneta, which is the world's first implementation of Zerocoin ( http://moneta.cash ).

The Zerocoin Protocol is a cryptographic protocol that add an additional layer of privacy on top of the Bitcoin protocol. It uses "Zero-Knowledge Proofs" to guarantee that transactions are completely anonymous and private.

If you are interested in participating in our testnet, stay tuned as we hope to open up the testnet soon.

I look forward to your questions  8-)

Gary

You can ask him anything at:

The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

According to the AMA this is a separate project from the ZeroCash project Zooko is working on. Zooko already has funding but it sounds like this group is still looking for money. I hate ICOs

I support their goal of privacy but when they say stuff like this:

Quote
For one, a malicious or compromised member of a ring signature can break privacy.

It makes you wonder if they truly understand how a ring signature works in current solutions of crypto that already exist. If you compromise the only party in the ring signature (yourself) then yeah you break privacy lol.

When you mix with other outputs in Monero you are the only person who knows what is really going on especially if you are using a high mixin number.

This is also based on new cryptography (not tested for a long period of time). But if you want to risk using it that's up to you.

They also do not address the drawbacks of using a zerocoin system as described by Dr. Adam Back:

(they fail to point out the cons of using zerocoin in its current form)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dAdI3Gzodo&t=32m46s

Zerocoin still has a trap door (i.e. in the RSA accumulator)

here is another gem:

Quote
We are collaborating with them on implementing an even better chain selection rule, which will allow for lightning fast transaction block times as fast as ~1 second (~600 times faster than Bitcoin).

you don't get speed without a trade off elsewhere in the system.

Where is that trade off? Not sure...they don't say where. Nor do they specify how their speed is achieved explicitly.

You have a problem with my asking legitimate questions?

This coming from the guy who not 2 weeks ago came charging into the monero thread not knowing what he was talking about and got digitally bitch slapped? lol

 Roll Eyes

Do some research on the pros and cons of such a system. Watch the video I posted.

I'm not against zerocoin/zerocash but at the same time there are some glaring issues with its current form.

Care to join the discussion?

It looks more like a smear campaign than asking legitimate questions, especially considering the ALT coin you've been shilling for lately.

If you want truly want an answer to your legitimate questions I suggest you tone it down a little bit and ask them like an adult would. IE:

"World's first implementation of Zerocoin"... but it hasn't launched, and is still seeking investors to fund development.

No thanks. I think I'll hold off investing and even getting my hopes up until it launches, if it launches.

If they are indeed the same people then this isnt the FIRST implementation of zerocoin as they did zerovert in 2014 which ultimately failed.

Yes, same guys that launched zerovert, but hard to say if it is or is not the first implementation, since they never released the source code for zerovert, just let it kind of burn to the ground. Also, Gary Le is apparently a college dropout and kind of a scumbag:
https://web.archive.org/web/20141016190714/http://blog.kevinzhang.me/posts/tracking-down-gary-le-the-thiel-fellow-and-dartmouth-dropout-who-tried-to-impersonate-me.html

Poramin did his master's under Matthew Green, so maybe the plan is to let the kids launch the implementation as a new coin next year. It's really not clear. Just have to wait and see...

Spare me the lecture buddy.

I've asked legitimate questions that need to be addressed.

We've been down this road where you play the victim or make things out to be something they aren't. Let's deal in facts.
What you call playing the victim or making things out to be something they aren't I call telling the honest truth. Then again, I prefer to deal in reality. Maybe you can teach us peasants how to be omniscient like you when provided incomplete information.

I have posted my questions/concerns and issues above.
Yes you did, but the problem is the way you did so. It looks more like accusatory propaganda than actual questions that wanted legit answers. The fact you copy and pasted your messages on both forums doesn't help any, considering he likely doesn't know this thread exists and will not reply here. That, along with the fact you've been shilling for Montero for quite some time now makes it look like propoganda.

Now please tone down your condescending tone. Thanks  Kiss
Edit: Please try to stop the underhanded insults okay? Thanks.

I'm not a child no matter how much you imply I am.

The term treat others as you would like to be treated applies here.

You always like to have the last word in our arguments so you can feel like you "won" the argument, so as always I will let you have the last word. I assume you will post some bs to spin the situation how you want others to perceive it, and if I keep responding we will be stuck in a never ending loop. Peace out.

That seems to be a common denominator among them. A very distinct personality trait. And readers will easily see through it so it makes it even more conspicuous.

Its possible to implement Zerocoin using RSA UFO's without a backdoor. This has been pointed out many many times

EDIT:
not saying they did, just that it is possible to do.

Looks like Mr. Gary Le decided to run away from his AMA...

Hasn't answered questions directly related to his projects for over 5 days now.

I think it is safe to say that he either isn't serious about his project or had alterior motives he did not want to get close to discussing.

More advertising for a shit coin.  Roll Eyes
