I'd like to request an update to the official Bitcoin client.  I'd love to see an extra 'server' tab for folks interested in solo mining with more than one machine.  Would like to see the  following.

1) Switch the bitcoin client into or out of server mode.
2) Configure server settings from the bitcoin.conf file such as rpcuser, rpcpassword, prcallowip & rpcport
3) Show a list of all current 'connected' miners with their status (connected/not connected), hashes processed, miner speed.

That's all I can think of at the moment...

Sounds like things that an alternate client would need, focused on mining.

Not the main branch.

Possibly, but the main client is capable of allowing multiple miners to connect to it right now, so it is doing all of these server related tasks in the background anyways.  I just thought it'd be nice to be able to see them.

That's more of a proof-of-concept than anything else. If you want a mining pool server, then that's what you should use.

Why set up a pool server when you're only using local clients? There's no need to keep statistics as detailed as a pool server needs to when you're solo mining.

Yes.  When solo mining across multiple clients, it would just be nice to have a place to go get a quick status view of all the clients that are connected.  Would make it nice and easy to see if any of your miners are down or if they're doing poorly performance wise.  A major stats setup wouldn't be needed, just something quick and dirty exposing the locally connected clients.
