Buying bitcoins in the UK

Just wondering where all the bitcointalk UK members buy their bitcoins?

Localbitcoins is always a solid option specially in UK where you shouldn't have problems finding a legit amount of good dealers. If you don't care about privacy, then any of the exchanges on the Eurozone will do.

LocalBitcoins.com is a solid platform. I'd also add www.100bit.co.in, which is a similar platform, but cheaper. Any exchange on the Eurozone might not work for UK. Pound is still the currency on UK. It has not shifted to Euro.

Pretty sure Xapo and Localbitcoins are the 2 best options for buying in UK. My British friend has used them a few times each with no problems.

I haven't bought Bitcoins for a good while but my main source was Bittylicious. That's a great service and near instant but you gotta watch the premiums. Sometimes they've been on a par with exchanges, other times they've totally detached from reality. Each price you're offered is from an individual seller.

Localbitcoins sellers seem to have become quite insanely anal about ID but I guess that's understandable.

Bittybot.co.uk lists all the prices and major sellers. Looks like you can buy from Coinbase with a card but I assume the limits are pretty low.

One thing to bear in mind is that Fidor bank has arrived in the UK and it seems like Bitcoin businesses will be able to maintain accounts with them. Hopefully soon we might have 'real' exchanges rather than secondary buying services or waiting for wires to land abroad.

Kraken is also a major exchange handling XBT/GBP trading pairs.

They accept SEPA transfers and are quite cheap to withdraw from. Definately give it a try.

I just checked bitbargain and all of the listings are largely overpriced. Localbitcoins would be a much better deal.

Bitbargain.co.uk and Localbitcoins are Old school both have really good reputation this are my best options, today you must to verify your Id in most of the companies, so the only diference between them is in coinbase and kraken you can Trade with them.


Another opcion is Cex is the oldest exchange if you dont count Mtgox

It will be fine until first serious hacking attempt, then things will go dirty.

I use bittylicious on quite a few occasions.
However, if buying larger quantities I stick to localbitcoins as they have a better rate.
Both have been great although never had an issue with the former.

Does circle.com work outside the us?  The have limits to start ($300/week),  but have been very good so far.  I'm not sure if you can use them outside the US but it's worth taking a look.

It's an exchange so it'll be cheaper. I'm sure quite a few localbitcoins traders just buy on there, stick a premium on top and make the sale. Exchanges will almost always be cheaper because they're a lot of hassle for casual buyers to get on.

I think they've clamped down on that type of thing now. It was fine for international buyers once upon a time but more and more seem to be rejected. Worth a try all the same.
