Any recommendations for a Swiss bank? The bank should have customer service in English and preferably have a branch in Zürich. International banks like Credit Suisse or UBS are less optimal, I think. The amounts stored will be in scale of tens or hundreds of thousands of euros. Should the account be denominated in CHF or EUR? CHF seems more stable lately.

because santa claus has a fat stack of coins and doesn't want his girlfriend or his local financial regulators to know about it. I've heard the banques cantonales are good, they don't have branches in other countries AFAIK. |

If you don't want an international bank, go with the Zurich Kantonal Bank. I am pretty satisfied with them. Their customer service is not as good as UBS but they are a little cheaper.

Zürich Kantonalbank requires a 100,000 CHF initial deposit from foreigners, so I'll need to polish my coins a bit longer or contact another bank. Singapore seems interesting too. well, even with a swiss bank acc his local financial regulators will find out. we´re not in 1960 anymore Even if there was something illegal, they'd need a criminal investigation and some clue that made them contact Swiss authorities. |

swissquote you can open a swiss bank account online. switzerland won't protect your ID anymore btw. they caved to reporting requirements a few years ago you need to register an offshore corp and open up trusts or something to hide your monies

It seems so. Perhaps I should have been more specific… I assume that I can deposit and withdraw silver whatever citizenship I have, but won't it be a tad complicated (or expensive) if I'm not physically in the US? Cheers, |

Caymens, Swiss Banks, Jersey all those former private banking areas signed up to Obama's AML demands and will hand over info to the IRS and any other countries tax authorities now You have to create an offshore corp in the Seychelles or somewhere else with no tax reporting requirements and then use it to open a swiss trust account to hide from the tax man in 2011 (though they are catching on to the fake trust accounts now).
