Can terrorism make cash money go away? No. Same goes up for Bitcoin. No one can ruin Bitcoin beside miners and we ourself if we leave this project for whatever reason.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Is this an honest question or propaganda?

When Selina finally gives her speech at Clovis, she does so in front of a word cloud containing many, well, words.  Among them are “Danny Chung” and “torture.”  When asked about the torture story, Selina, while refuting the claims, continues to use the words “Danny Chung” and “torture” over and over again.
As a result, as Dan lets her know, the media and everyone else believe the two are synonymous.  Whoops.

It is in fact already on the news, just saw this:

As expected, it was a matter of time that media would start reporting on Bitcoin being used to finance the terrorist attacks. If it's true or not it's another story, I don't think they know for a fact, they are just speculating.

It is being used by DAESH and other terror groups. So what?
They also use gold to make coins. So what?
It's not like we're going to throw all our gold into the sea because terrorists are using it. Nor will we give up our bitcoin.

Here is what DAESH's money looks like.

If IS uses bitcoin, the only way that bitcoin can ruin IS is bitcoin crashing. Do you want bitcoin to crash?

Yes, I feel that bitcoin has been set back for to accusations (that have no proof) of IS using bitcoin.

they must buy first, this mean that they will help the market , unless they want to dump at lower price, which is stupid

and i doubt they are mining...

Actually in some of the places ISIS control they do tend to run the utilities as well as all the other services, that said I'm not sure if a Geographic flag would show up where a Bitcoin miner is minting coins if you join a mining pool so that would be speculation on my part.
It is an interesting question.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/17/world/middleeast/offering-services-isis-ensconces-itself-in-seized-territories.html?_r=0

it must ne amsall mining facility because it does not show up even among the biggest pool out there

they earning is very small if this is true

Well it would be possible to denote a flag of another country through a proxy
The only way that would ever change is if there was a problem with the proxy for some time and people looked it up and noticed either way I doubt ISIS is a large scale Bitcoin miner too much traffic monitoring in my opinion and there's better ways for them to extort money than that.

Well I heard that something similar was on CTV/CBC yesterday but didn't see it myself and ya FUD is a pain in the arse, people need to have better info than people just thinking it is a future threat and not a useful tool.

I don't think they'll be able to ruin bitcoin like that

If that were even close to being possible the dollar and euro (don't forget the iol market) would be ruined already.

In some ways, the fact that IS uses Bitcoin can ruin Bitcoin. You see, the primary currency that finances terrorism is USD. Due to the fact that USD is also used by everybody else in the world that aren't terrorists, it will not be seen as 'terrorist money'. On the other hand, Bitcoin is not as popular as USD. As seen with media, if they say anything bad about something, people think it is bad. For example, the news had stated that cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) was one of the ways IS was being funded. For ignorant (or just misinformed) people, they would jump straight to conclusions and believe that Bitcoin is 'terrorism money'.

This would place Bitcoin in the bad light and decrease its popularity in some places. It may also prevent future Bitcoin users from using Bitcoin. This is just my opinion, so we'll have to see.

How many BTC are actually in wallets held by islamists? I bet it's a negligible quantity. They probably have a higher share of the oil market than the cryptocurrency market. And they can't mine! I've read several reports about regular power shortages in Syria.

I used to be a citizen and a taxpayer. Those days are long gone.

No. Bitcoin is already monitored accordingly by governments.

And it's also not a "fact". Want to know a real fact? IS doors not use bitcoin. Gotcha there.

If IS DID use bitcoin, then it's have an impact on bitcoin. Not to the current bitcoin users, but people who want to adopt bitcoin will get scared of the idea of being even barely related to an "inhuman state"

Say your.

I don't say BTC suffer the IS (inhuman state).
For me No. Else $ should suffer it.

I just wanna know what you think about it.

Those kind of correlations have any meaning. What about the terrorist which don't know at all bitcoin? What about the existing terrorists and the terrorism before the bitcoin see the light of the sun? The just said "good people" (and all their brothers and sisters) have nothing to do with bitcoin. As such they used other kind of money. Can (or could have been) be us dollar, euro, pound or the money of the countries of all the world. The place when they live and do their criminal activity. Have heard someone that is ruin some money because of these actions or "reasons"? Never happen. And never will happen. Terrorists and terrorism existed before the bitcoin and as told used other kind of money. Them will exist (unfortunately) even in the future and will use all the possible money in circulation. But this never will befoul the money they use. The money have any fault on itself. Those are a tool that serve to everyone own these. It is their  duty this. And cannot decide them to whom will serve. So cannot be guilty for something that don't depend from those. Marked those as guilty by someone only for the simple reason that these were used by the criminals mean that that person is insane or simple a stupid.

I do not think so, I've read that IS also relies heavily on plain old cash transactions, which is somewhat comparable to using Bitcoin.
They probably make use of multiple different currencies and precious metals.

It is in fact already on the news, just saw this:

How is bitcoin an income source?? Do they some massive mining operation back in Syria or Iraq, or do they receive Bitcoin through extortion or something like that?

This is just a story that the media made up and as usual, spread like wildfire. They have no proof of terrorists using bitcoin, and bitcoin is already regulated by international authority's accordingly.

I think if they did use bitcoin, they'd have their own eggheads whod work on day trading, or theyd just hodl. I don't think theyd have a mining operation, as i heard that Syria and Iraq have regular power shortages and cuts.
