I have been told there is little difference between the two, but I am very happy with slush's pool myself.

Depends on if you're using dedicated mining machines or not.. Slush's score based pool won't give you as much for each found block if you're turning your miner on and off constantly, i.e for gaming. BTCGuild pays for each share, so you'll make the same amount for every share you send.
