Bitcoin will not be obsolete in the near future. It has good community to support it. It has active development. I will coexist with many other coins.

Think you should add a choice of "never" in your poll because it will never be obsolete, as long as the internet is alive and kicking bitcoin will be here with us, and the blockchain on it's own merit seems to be picking up more attention and integration into financial institutions so the blockchain will be here for the long term also.

When FIAT money become obsolete? It took over ~7000 years, till bitcoin happen, so bitcoin can last quite long if you ask me.

Ughhh..... do you realize "fiat" money is actually very young? Less than 100 yrs old.

Maybe you should start researching where the term "fiat" comes from.

maybe the legalized money"fiat" money is young but dollars is very old https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_United_States_dollar

Now explain to me where the term "fiat" comes from

Hint, read the damn link you posted. Retard.

i don't care about that, this is not the point, the point is that money issued by the governments, are very old and not just 100 year old like you've said

and why you insult for soemthing that have no importance is beyond me

I'd say never but can't vote for that.

Bitcoin already exist next to the dollar as are other currencies. They are already coexsisting next to each other.

It's just that not everyone around the world uses bitcoin or has the correct info about it.

Yes, OP should definitely add an option Never to the poll. Like that, this would be a legitimate pool and thread. By not doing this, this thread is here more for trolling than anything else!

It could be as the banks are just wanting the blockchain technology and just dispense of bitcoin all together. So never say never to anything in the world, or it might come true  Lips sealed
I personally don't want it to become obsolete as it is a free currency that is not strapped down by many rules and laws that other fiats are bound by.

I don't think it will happen soon. Let there exist a lot of deficiencies but the same idea will be relevant at least 10 years.

Bitcoin will not be obsolete as it is being developed constantly. It can adapt to any new environment.

It will only become obsolete when replaced by something else. There are alot of different alt coins out there but none have really taken off like bitcoin. The chances of it replacing fiat is unlikely but if more and more people accept it as a equivalent it is no different than any other form of currency. I'm sure when euro was first introduced people were sceptical but now it is a normal currency. I'm also sure when the Internet started people thought it would never replace what was in place now look we couldn't imagine a world without the Internet.

I think that bitcoin is likely already obsolete but as human nature dictates people go with what they know..

Think about it.. We have countless other coins now that have so much better features and block times / usability features in comparison to BTC.

We still use BTC as it's sort of the established crypto. The gold standard if you will. But in the near future I wouldn't be suprised it be replaced with some coin that bridges the gap between the neckbeards taht use BTC now and the general consumer population.

Simplicity will win in the long run.. BTC is to complicated for the average user at the moment.
Think about is that way: you can't have and maintain possible the best cryptocurrency all the time. There always will be new solutions of existing problems, new ways of coding or new goals.
Bitcoin may not be the most advanced, the fastest or the best - but it is the most known and regarded as king of crypto. That is bitcoin's capital and that won't chance anytime soon.

Fiat money is money that the Government declares to be legal tender. With the advent of fractional reserve banking, the banks started to create virtual money, ie. money that only exists in their networks. Now they are complaining because the people of the world have created their own virtual currency, and they can't control or steal it. Once this fact is appreciated, then which currency do you think will survive? Cash will probably survive if puplic confidence can be retained. I believe that the reason China is buying so much physical gold is because they want to back the Renminbi with gold. It is possible that we will be exchanging Yuan as cash instead of dollars and pounds.

To ask when you believe Bitcoin will be obsolete is almost like saying you feel that it will die eventually. I don't understand being part of a community that works in Bitcoin to doubt it. I am sure it will be vigorous and strong to not die anytime soon but with the way Bitcoin is viewed it will be hard to stick around, I am sure. We just have to figure it out and make it strong.

Yes bitcoin will survive for sure no doubt it will face competition from new currencies entering into market but bitcoin would be always on top when it comes to crypto and no other crypto can take place or replace bitcoins and that is for sure as at a moment there are altcoins, dogecoins etc but the market cap of bitcoins is much more higher and wider as compared to this I believe that the same scenario would be in future too.

This post doesn't make much sense, aside from meandering about the same old arguments.

Bitcoin will not become obsolete easily. There is a large backing for it, since there are investors, consumers, companies, entrepreneurs, miners, and speculators using it.

Banks and governments are already developing their own blockchains, or at least creating other applications around the blockchain technology. This won't mean that Bitcoin will become obsolete, it just means that they will migrate their services to fit that.

Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency to definitively succeed, and thus it will retain value as long as there are users.

Bitcoin will survive for the time being, as it has the largest user community. But there are many problem with it. The Bitcoin Foundation does not do much and there is delay in increasing the block chain size.

I think it wil take over 10 years for this to actually happen
I don't think banks have figured out away yet where a crypto currency could benefit them

Bitcoin is still in early stage. It is still being developed actively. If it keeps on evolving, it will not be obsolete for many decades.

If we're talking about digital currency, it's something that is here to stay. Not necessarily BTC, but an equivalent will surely exist in the next centuries.

Yes maybe it will happen if the bitcoin is not reform and did not develop it.
But during bitcoin reform and evolving it would not happen because it would compete with bitcoin tight. I also have seen a post that in portugal (if not mistaken) already made bitcoin as a digital currency, I do not know that's true or not but if it does occur it has included the development of bitcoin

I think it might take longer than 15 years to get to this point. Bitcoin is not as anonymous as everyone thinks it is, every transaction is trackable.
Which could be a problem for governments and other corporate businesses.

I don't think bitcoin will ever become obsolete. Seems impossible, the reasons why people are holding off on using bitcoin, even the ones that know about it,
is because of what the media feeds them. A lot of people think that the news that they watch or hear is accurate.
