Is out there any real S7 competitor ? I know there is the avalon 6 but it is a bit more expensive than the S7 per Th/S, and we all know the S7 is already too expensive !

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison and https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Non-specialized_hardware_comparison are the canonical lists. I'm not sure that will be useful to you; there's approximately 940 products across the two lists.

Even on the list you provided the Animiner S5+ is the cheapest option comparing by most Mhash for every dollar.

Really debating to myself on whether to drop the coin for this batch or wait to see if there's a batch 9 to follow.  With the huge jump in difficulty only hours away, it's making me really hesitant to buy.

yeah 11%  and looks like both avalon and bitmaintech are going to sell and sell and sell and sell more.

Either the price of gear is going to get halved or they're going to stop getting buyers soon.

If they half the price, people will buy and buy causing the diff to skyrocket. Probably over double in a two or three months.

If they keep the price the same then buyers will dry up real soon. Profitability is already on the fence and with the next 10%+ jump in 14 days nobody will buy at these prices at all. This would keep the hashrate around the 100 Billion that it will be come January.

Either way this looks like a loosing situation for any miner looking to buy right now and it will become more clear come Jan/Feb. Sigh...  Undecided

Avalon 6 would be your closest match.  Not as efficient but in the ballpark and that is still good enough.

Spondoolies Tech has the SP 50
http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/products/sp50

It outforms the antminer on every front. Check the specs. The Antminer S7 is a baby if you look to the power of this baby:
0.15W/GH/s

Effective Hash Rate 110 TH/s ± 10%

no, Spoldoolies DOES NOT HAVE the SP50, that is just a RENDER with imaginary TH/S
on the other hand , the S7 is a real miner that you can actually buy and mine with

Have you actually tried to get your hands on them?  You can't just buy one according to my customers that have inquired.  I was referring to miners that the average can get their hands on.

The S7 was the way to go in my opinion, maybe not now though. If you buy an Avalon 6 today and get it hashing above the stated 3.6Ths (which looks to be possible up to 4Ths) it might be just as good of a deal as an S7 because the S7 batch 8 that is currently for sale might be a month and a half till delivery. In that time you could earn almost 1BTC from an Avalon and that would make up for the slight additional costs. The S7 ship has already set sail and its a bit late to get aboard now. The Avalon train is leaving the station...

it depend on what you mean by competitor, with very low energy cost, it's better to go with soemthing else, more cheaper that let you achieve roi faster

otherwise the s7 is the king, if your power is expensive

As has been said your only choices in the new market are for the S7 or Avalon6. You could turn to the second hand market with say 4 x S5 and save a few Dollars, however unless you have very cheap electricity you are better off with the S7 or Avalon6 which will also have a better resale value in 6-9 Months.

I think they will be pretty secretive once it does launch.  I predict they look for big buyers over a certain number of dollars on sales to work with. Maybe later on down the road they work with buying a few.  But I think they will go for data center customers wanting a lot first.

The hard part is I have a feeling a lot of it including price will be under a NDA.  So it's likely we will not know much about the SP-50 unless someone leaks it.  And either way I think they just have a case as of now.... so we really have no idea how long till it hits the market.

I don' think they will do this. They would only do this if the price lost half its value.

S7 is a good choice but you need to factor in energy cost and how much it is going to cost you to run and then work out Diff increases, value of bitcoin, amount spent on equipment and how long it going to take to brake even and then gain profit. Right now with the massive spikes it is hard to say how long it will take to RIO and even next year with the next half of bitcoin It gonna be really interesting to see who continues to mine and who switches off as am sure more will turn their rigs off and diff will come down people will turn rigs on again. But we are approaching no return and Bitcoin needs to put in place some type of system that allows transactions to be processed without miners as if all turns rigs off or many start sopping it is going to take longer and longer to process transactions and send payments.
