S7 is a good choice but you need to factor in energy cost and how much it is going to cost you to run and then work out Diff increases, value of bitcoin, amount spent on equipment and how long it going to take to brake even and then gain profit. Right now with the massive spikes it is hard to say how long it will take to RIO and even next year with the next half of bitcoin It gonna be really interesting to see who continues to mine and who switches off as am sure more will turn their rigs off and diff will come down people will turn rigs on again. But we are approaching no return and Bitcoin needs to put in place some type of system that allows transactions to be processed without miners as if all turns rigs off or many start sopping it is going to take longer and longer to process transactions and send payments.

I think your getting ahead of ourselfs a bit.  I think there will be some big installs of Bitmain and Avalon (chances are some already done).  Eventually bitfury will jump in.... possibly sp50 someday, and BW's miner someday to.

I think a awful lot of miners are in commercial settings where BTC will not slow down to much even if a lot of individuals hit power off.  I wish I had a percentage of home/hobby miner vs commercial.  But likely we will never have that.  Just look at difficulty last period and chances are this period more gear is coming online and old gear is staying online longer.

A lot of us were mining profitable at 230.... so after jump it will take a decent amount of big jumps to shut us down.   But I could be wrong.  I just think slowing down to point it hurts BTC transactions will not happen unless some huge loss on value.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

i think s7 is most efficient mining equipment right now
i have not seen anything that beat it!

Doesn't Spondoolies Tech have a more energy efficient miner? So yes the SP 50 is a more then a competitor.

Sure it is for the big buyers, but with a group buy it makes more sense to buy from Spondoolies Tech rather then Bitmain.

I might be getting ahead but it is true tho. They might be some big installs of equipment so long as or free energy or pay very little, they will keep on happening, but that does not do any good for the general public grabbing a few machines as will never brake even on that equipment. When first lot of asic come along missed on batch 1 of avalon managed batch 2 but still that was hard to brake profit on. Sure it was spitting out  2 btc a day for a while then 1 then 0.5 and so on to point of being none profitable and lost about 4 to 5BTC on it, if kept BTC for them machines back then to now would be a much bigger profit yielded. But that was then and this is now. Maybe in the next year if some massive machines come out that are effective before halving in June/July then I might consider but it is getting very tight and with 12.5 a block price needs to go up or lots going to turn off and turn elsewhere.

I would not use the Antminer s7 out there on Hashnest :/ Ive tried them again and invested half a BTC.
After several Days is simply lost more than i mined over the market price change.

Now iam in in Miningsweden with some VIP packages of the Antminer s7 Wink I think this is quit nice Wink

The upside to this is the coins you mine are worth more (assuming value stays, which hopefully it does).  But there is up and down side.

This is part of the reason I try to get people to not put all eggs in one basket, unless just totally sure.  I at times did go all in on mining equipment.  But at a point I started to do both.   I like both personally.  I keep some in mining gear some in cold wallets... so either way I feel pretty good.

As of 1 December 2015, the only available close competition to the S7 for home miners is the Avalon 6.

The BW.COM (Lketc) B-Eleven should be showing up fairly soon, depending on how they price it might be better competition for the S7.

*IF YOU ARE A BIG BUYER" the Spondoolies SP50 might be actually available by now, with slightly better efficiency but unknown price competativeness.

*IF YOU ARE A MEGA BUYER* you might be able to get even better gear out of BitFury.

At this point, I am in "wait and see" mode, depending on how the B-Eleven ends up pricing out and it's final specs - and hoping for a major price war to ignite once Bitmain gets someone out there making HOME miners that is willing to compete on pricing. Nothing currently available has a realistic chance of RoI at my current electric rates, even if diff increases hadn't started going back into "sky-high" mode with the new miners pushing things right now - and I'm starting to wonder if 3c/KWH electric would be enough to ROI the "current generation" at it's way expen$$$ive pricing.

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

Indeed that is a true saying however if someone needs to pay bills out of it or paying for energy then it is coin spent to cover brake even point and at most cases selling now is a tough one given the fact that coin is going up. Am tempted to get back into the mining game but still I need good cheap energy and good equipment that is not going to eat a chunk of kwh every day. If that factor would work out then id be mining. But I do like the idea behind some of the new tech that is coming out that might be better than s7, but as as as we think bitmain are on hold bam release another miner. So no doubt about it s8 will soon come and maybe a new chip.

I think SP50's might be looking for mega buyers at first.  I have a feeling the first ones out they want to see quite a few of them before selling.  I also don't think we will know much I think once they do hit market most likely NDA's keep most quiet on it.

And you are right on bitfury you need to show up with a case full of money to get them.  It can be done though Bit-X bought 1 PH from them.  So if you buy enough it's possible they will sell to you.

To answer the title question, yes, but they won't start hashing until sometime in 2016. My own company, as well as several other companies I'm aware of, are currently working on next-gen miners.

Hmm well that's not what I would call answering the question.... Sometime in 2016 is a bit Barn Door like, care to share some more details?

The Avalon 6 for sure. But if you got more budget, go with Spondoolies Tech. Their company has proven to be a excellent asic vendor, regarding trust but even more the stability of their miners.
I got 3 jackson and never had a problem with any of them.

I agree on more details.  A lot of companies say they will come out with something... and never do it.  Worst are ones that do it and accept pre-orders.

What makes you so sure in a year you can do this?  I mean there is no way you have chips locked in for a year.... we don't even know what the chips will be in a year.  So you are kinda hard to believe at this current point.
