The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

"Fields suggested pressure could come if Bitcoin Core developers sought to enable software users to make transactions "entirely anonymous" through their work on the protocol."
There is no need for bitcoin to do that. Monero and Dash can already achieve anonymous transaction. Bitcoin should remain a transparent money.

Anonymity and transactional privacy are not mutually exclusive. Adam Back ably pointed out that anonymity is simply a by-product of fungible money, and so any improvements to privacy/anonymity only contribute further to Bitcoin's inherent money-like properties.
